I'm also hoping the Coyote looks cool as a mini.

So far the Blitz versions of the models have been totally ace!

I can't imagine it not looking cool after seeing all of the Blitz re-sculpts. I wouldn't worry at all.

Hmm, Good to find a Blitz / Locked and Loaded thread here.

Heavy Gear Locked and Loaded is a great game.
It is fast paced yet highly (compared to other games) realistic at the same time.
It is not a "stand and slug it out" game like other giant robot games (including its old versions). You actually have to use strategy and thinking while fighting. Manueverability and cover are highly important. Standing in the open blazing away with your weapons is a suicide move (but sometimes worth it).

From a start up POV ....
$35 for rules (but includes ALL the rules and full army books). Print book ships May 23. PDF version (DTRPG) $25 avail now.
$40 -$50 per squad box. 5 minis + accessories per box. This is about the same as GW elite squads but you need less for Heavy Gear. You can actually play the full game with just 1 squad.

Mechmerc

PS-- DP9 did not "lose" their sculpter. He stepped down from all his other positions (line producer, shipper, molder, + more) due to overload and frustrations. His post on the matter was emotional (and scary from a buyers POV) but things have settled.

One thing to note about the "Only need one squad" is that there's no squad coherency in Heavy Gear Blitz (exceptions for Infantry and Drones) so one squad can break to deal with multiple targets as needed.

There is some 'weak coherency' however, as certain things work best if the squad has LOS. Moving beyond 'Auto Coms' range (A unit stat: leader-type vehicles often have upgrade comm systems) may make things more difficult for a vehicle as they can't take advantage of the force's Command Points without the leader making a roll to punch through enemy ECM. It's an interesting system as it rewards a squad sticking together, but doesn't force it.

I need to find some time to actually play the game.
