That's totally fine for you to do yourself (you can copy and paste as you see fit to make it so), including editing the thread title by editing the subject line of the first post in a thread.

Or you can start a new thread fresh and just include links to your old blogs that you're retiring if you prefer.

But we can't magically combine those two threads together automatically (if that's what you're asking).

Hey Yakface , thanks buddy , being a computer biff and all round fearful of " elec-trickery" (it has no moving parts - how can you trust it ????) I wasn't sure if you had fairy dust lying around !
I'll maybe do a bit of cut and paste tonight !
Thanks again !

Have have a question in regards to the appropriate place to post something:

I noticed that the Painting & Modeling Showcase section specifies that all models featured in it should be "Painted and Based." As of right now all of my models are well painted, but none of them are based (purely personal preference, alongside a lack of knowledge on basing.) For my painted-but-not-based models, can I show them off there in the Painting & Modeling Showcase, or should they be placed in the Painting and Modeling section instead?

Thank you for your time.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

The Painting & Modeling Showcase forum is for pics of models with a painted base. If your personal preference is to keep your bases unpainted, then pics of those models should go into the regular painting and modeling forum instead.

Hey guys, I can't seem to find a setting or a FAQ reference for this question...but if it has already been asked, please point me in the right direction.

I've noticed that if I post an update in my P&M Blog, and then post another update before someone else posts a comment, it automatically appends to the last post, even though they may not be directly related. Then my project blog slowly sinks to the bottom of the P&M Blog abyss, where no-one will be likely to browse in and post a comment or criticism.

Is there a set amount of time that has to lapse before I can post an update that actually registers as an update and sends the thread back to the top of the P&M section? If so, could you share what that is? Or is there a setting that I can turn off that does not allow auto-appended posts?

Thanks in advance!

Auto-append is designed to collapse people's posts together if they're posting within 24 hours without someone replying. That is intentional so that people do not spam their own threads in order to keep them up at the top of the forum. Also, attaching a picture to a post (not just linking to a picture, but actually attaching it to the post) will also disable auto-append, even within 24 hours.

The truth is, if you are adding multiple posts to your thread within the same day, you shouldn't be adding multiple posts just to keep your thread bumped up (which is why auto-append exists). I know it can be frustrating when people don't comment on content you post, but sometimes that just happens. There are other ways you can help get more eyeballs to your thread without bumping it...you can edit the thread title to let people know when there has been a new update (by editing the subject heading in the first post of the thread), including adding a last updated 'date' in the thread title. You could also put a little promotional link to your blog thread in your forum signature so that people will have another way to be aware of it.

Hi Foamy,

In any of the main subforum areas, you should see a "New Topic" button on the top left, just under the words "Forum Index". Such as on this page for 40K General Discussion:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/69.page

I think this answers both of your questions, since you've got the reply part down I see since you're posting here

Welcome to the boards!

Q: Is it okay to talk about or show pictures of recasted models?

A: The owners of this site personally believe that recasting copyrighted models without the copyright holder’s consent (henceforth referred to as 'unauthorized recasting') is an unacceptable practice. Therefore, as both legal protection for the site and also due to that personal preference, it is imperative that Dakka not be used as a means to promote the concept, process and/or sale of unauthorized recasts, and any forum threads, articles and/or gallery pictures breaking this guideline may be locked or removed without warning.

To provide some further clarification on what is acceptable/unacceptable:

• Posting the names of individuals or sites explicitly known to deal in unauthorized recasting (including yourself) is prohibited, including links to those individuals or sites. Questions asking for this type of information are also prohibited.

• Tutorials about how to perform unauthorized recasting are prohibited, as are questions asking for tutorials about how to perform unauthorized recasting. General tutorials/articles on casting and recasting items created by the author of the tutorial/article are perfectly fine, as long as the item being cast does not infringe on clearly known intellectual property. So for example, it is not okay to post a tutorial showing how to cast/recast a Games Workshop Space Marine's Bolter (even if you sculpted it yourself), but it is fine to post a tutorial/article showing how to cast/recast a rifle of your own design.

• Articles/forum threads that serve as a means to promote and/or help normalize the concept of unauthorized recasting will be locked or deleted. This is a difficult guideline to precisely define, and its enforcement is handled on a case-by-base basis, rather than a strict set of rules to follow. Generally, it is permissible to talk about the concept of unauthorized recasting and even voice your opinion on whether you think it is morally wrong or right. However, the moment the conversation/article turns into a vehicle to promote unauthorized recasting, it becomes inappropriate, such as when suggesting to other users that they should consider purchasing unauthorized recasts.

• Pictures of models that may or may not be recasts are fine to post/put into the Dakka gallery. It is only when the pictures explicitly depict undeniably unauthorized recast models, or are used as a means to promote unauthorized recasting that they are prohibited.

I have a question about if a store is selling legitimate bits and minis and has anyone ordered from them before, but don't know which forum to ask in or if it would clear the sites policy on recasts discussion if it turns out they are not above board. Any advice?

Find the appropriate sub forum (like Painting and Modeling, Warhammer 40k Discussions, etc) and click on the New Topic button in the upper left-hand corner.

Before starting a new topic, you may want to do a quick glance through the first few pages of a sub forum to see if the topic has already been brought up. If the last post in that thread is more than a month or so old, then please start a new thread on that topic.

Good luck and happy posting!

Q: Is it okay to post page scans of unreleased rules and/or pictures of unreleased models?

A: The owners of this site do not personally believe that posting the intellectual property of someone else without the copyright holder’s consent to be an unacceptable practice. Therefore, as both legal protection for the site and also due to that personal preference, it is imperative that Dakka not be used as a means to promote the concept, process and/or sale of disseminating unauthorized intellectual property. Therefore, any forum threads, articles and/or gallery pictures breaking this guideline may be locked or removed without warning.

To provide some further clarification on what is acceptable/unacceptable:

• Posting links to other sites that offer scans, torrents and/or direct downloads of unauthorized intellectual property is prohibited.

• Discussions about methods for obtaining unauthorized intellectual property, such as how to torrent this type of material, or where people can find sites that disseminate this type of material, is prohibited.

• Asking other users directly for unauthorized intellectual property or where you can find sites that disseminate that type of material is prohibited.

• Any images that contain unauthorized intellectual property (especially scans of rules and/or leaked pictures) that are uploaded to the Dakka gallery, Dakka article system and/or attached to a forum post (all of which results in Dakka hosting that image/file online) is prohibited.

I'm doing a large update to my Necromunda terrain thread and am posting a number of posts (8+) with different terrain subjects and wanted to keep the posts separate instead of having one ginormous post. Do not care about bumping at all, just want separate posts. Only option is to make a random attachment to each post or only make one post per day?

Thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/725230.page#9679486

Thanks,

Tim

Myself and my business partner just opened a webstore for our 3Dprinting service. We are related to miniature wargaming because we are a licensed 3D printer for the Peculiar companions patreon, which makes wargaming related STL files.

Would i be ok to post about said webstore, primarily in order to get feedback from the public on look/feel? I'm not specifically meaning to advertise.

As long as your site doesn't host the files to print copyrighted material, yes it is totally fine to post about it here. If you have any more questions about this, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for asking!
