Make 'em Wartracks (for their "bikier" look) and you've got yourself a deal!

Are people really that upset over whether or not the list is competitive?
I thought the issue ran deeper than that. Orks used to be a highly individualized force. Just like other 3rd edition armies they had different sublists and and the ability to customize. Somewhere along the way GW decided that options and costumiztion where out of style. Take a look at the new chaos dex. In an attempt te be fluffy and and promote warband, they stripped all other fluff from the codex. No more legions, no more animosity between the chaos god. The thing that reall got me in a duff was the lack of vet skills. By fluff regular space marines have only been around a few centuries, and they have vet skills. Chaos marine, most of which have been around since the heresy, have no vet skills what so ever. Orks might still be viable, whithout a codex I realy can't say. (btw where is the leak everyone is refencing?) but they took alot of flavor out of the orks.

I disagree (at least with reference to the new Ork codex). The new vehicles are incredibly customizable. The old Vehicle Design Rules have been rendered nearly redundant. The overall list is flexible to simulate nearly any of the old "sublists." I was able to arbitrarily decide what I wanted my army to look like, and the Codex supported the army I wanted.
Take a look at the new chaos dex.
Not in this thread, I won't!

I can't tell you where to find the Codex. It's against the board rules. I disagree with your assessment. I would say (without having seen the color sections of the new Codex), that the Orks are probably around the same level of fluffiness as in 2nd edition. I doubt we'll ever see the days of 1st edition's "Project: Ork" again.

I find it amusing that people are throwing around phrases like "mathematically best builds" and other silly phrases. If these "builds" are mathematically the best, then you can prove it, but there's a decided lack of sound proofs to be found. Funny that.
Just another case of people counting their chickens before they hatch. Wait, nobody is actually counting, just making stuff up that appeals to their prejudices and lack of imagination. Make that eye-balling their chickens before they hatch.

Since it seems as if everyone other then me has seen the codex pdf...
And everyone here is grown up enough to run probabilities, it seems to me mathatically sound is probably a pretty well thought out concept. Even a brief look at the book will allow you to see the unsound options (like possessed in the chaos book).

Sound, unsound, I don't give a squig's droppings about either. The orks got a boost in some ways from the last codex, and that's great. This list looks more fun to me than the last one, and I have a better way to field the army I want to play with this list than the last one. My planned force will use several units that people are writing off as non-starters, and if I lose sometimes, I could care less. I'll still have the army I want and my orks will be more competitive than last time.
Those facts alone to me make this codex a success.
