Been awhile since I updated this at all, been busy with my Eldar and not really had much money to add to this project.

To start off, a couple of shots of my Brother Captain with all his bling, and primed so I could see how the green stuff blended in when you couldn't tell where it ended and the plastic began.

edit: Bonus! Thread revival nicely starting off on page 2!!

Justicars! The crow Justicar I posted earlier in another thread, thought I'd throw him in here as well since I'm just going to keep using this one. The censor Justicar is posted on page 1, but I did a slight waist turn which someone recommended in the post I showed the crow Justicar in before. It ended up being a horrible royal pain and basically had my completely taking him apart and rebuilding him, and left a hole in his robe I had to patch. You can see the green stuff right below his belt in the picture. I do think he benefits from it however.

The second picture has the knights showing off their fancy new pauldrons. I had been using plain pads for the left side, but I ran out of spare ones of those. I got to looking at what I had, and thought about the Dark Angel pads with just the single sword on them. The symbol of the Grey Knights is a book overlaid with a sword, and since I was making my Grey Knights out of the Dark Angels boxes, I would have just as many of the pauldrons as I would have Grey Knights, making it perfect. I've not decided if I'll try to sculpt the books onto them, or just paint them on later. As these guys are still way down on my list of things to paint, I've got plenty of time to decide.

And now for the main reason I'm resurrecting this thread. I've been debating what to do about Terminators. The above Brother Captain shows I can make em, but is it worth a $50 box set when all you get to see is their arms and feet? Especially when I've not even been able to justify myself paying the $25 for more of the normal Grey Knights I need to flush out my Troops at the moment?

Wait... All you get to see are the arms and feet... Doesn't the Dark Angel boxes I've been building my troops out of come with a set of Terminator legs and arms? Could I make a good looking Terminator with nothing but a blob of green stuff for his torso? I bet I could...

Success!

Here's a shot on the scale/size of the various types. The Brother Captain was made to be bigger than a normal terminator, and his scythe is a fair bit longer than anyone else's. He's just BA like that. The normal Terminator is pretty much even in size with a standard Terminator, maybe a slight bit taller because of the robe's thickness. His scythe is a tad longer than the basic knights, but not by a whole lot.

My current plans calls for 5 boxes of Dark Angels to make all my troops, which will give me (better double check my math) 5 Terminators. My current thought is to run 2 squads of 3, so I'll have to find the bits for the last guy somewhere, which shouldn't be hard, and really works out quite well.

Hmm... Those robes go against everything in the Terminator User Manual.

Warning: Covering vents on back of armour is a fire risk. Please make sure all flammable materials are kept away from the vents, which may get hot during use.
Oh well, guess fire awareness doesnt come into play while kicking ass and taking names, and looking mighty fine while doing it.

Been hard at work the last couple of days trying to get enough guys done for 1250 pt month at the FLGS. I'll have to proxy one terminator because I ran out of Green Stuff, but otherwise I think I pretty much got what I need to get done done for the moment. I'll post more of some of the new stuff tomorrow as I want to get my five hours of sleep befor I have to get up for work, but I thought I'd at least throw in a nice group shot of all the wraiths I've gotten done so far.

From the dark depths I drag you back into the light and command you to live! Arise!!

So I'm working on these guys again. Still not painted anything yet, but I think I'm going to soon because I think the new washes will make what I want to do look cool. So what makes a resurrection of this thread worth it then? Easy. I'm finally doing the Dreadnought I've been wanting to do, and have the first two WIP shots of him to post.

First picture has him quite naked, showing off a little bit of pre green stuff work. If you're wondering on the odd possition of the shot, when he's finished, he'll be looking and aiming right at you from that angle. Second picture just has some space filling under the main torso, ball extended ball joints on the shoulders, and a redone sarcophagus to better seat his head.

First part of the robe's done. The greater number of angles on the front armor makes it much harder to try and decide how the cloth would drape compared to Power Armor and Terminator Armor.

you have a good sculpting hand, i really like the models alot, and its an awesome idea trust me

Only thing i might say about them is that maybe on your cloaks try to add a bit more detail and make the flows of the cloak more "natural"

Really well done though, you should definitly be proud of urself

good tip on the subject of cloaks / robes i got taught, get some thick paper and coat it in a little watered down pva, push it where the real one wll be and it shows up all creaces and rippling.

Step one: Dig out your terminator armor.

Step two: Buy robe big enough for 7 foot tall person

Step three: Drape! Drape! Drape! It'll look fabulous.
