Why would they make it compatible with a model that:
A). They didn't make.
B). Has been out of production for years.

Its not that Forgworld should make it compatible, they should not make it deliberately incomptible. There is a subtle difference.
GW in all its guises has had a long history of disavowing old stiock. Or have you forgotten Griffons so readily.
I find is suspicious to say the least that while most Forgewolrd stuff is grossly overpointed, they chose to make the new Reaver more powerful than previous editions, and cut the points against all their trends so that it was less than the listing on Bell of Lost Souls.
When I am taling about previous editions, forget Armorcast. I am not talking about that. I am talking about Epic, Armorcast merely mirrored Epic. Forgeworld are saying definitively that you cannot arm a Reaver with weapons found on epic Reavers, its in effect a completely new titan under an old name. The
only reason for this huge retcon is to snub Armorcast titan owners.
If you play Epic today you will find the titans sold,
including one of the two sold by Forgeworld has armament incompatible with the new Forgweworld rules. The standard official default armament for a Mars pattern Reaver titan is - according to Jervis - an Apocalypse missile launcher and two twin-barreled turbo lasers. All the Warhound level atrmament is valid for Reaver titan arm mounts in
every version of Epic including the official rules today.
This isnt 'Rogue Trader' era, the model is, but the rules are up to date.
