Care explaining how you got those lasguns, to be so cool?
I'm thinking... The strip, is a piece of thin plasticard, while the scope is greenstuff?

Having been in the Army during the BDU days (which I miss ironing and looking crisp, shining my boots and being flashy... oh how I miss those days), I noticed you didn't catch the paterns quite how I remember them (believe me, there is a repeating patern that you notice), but you HAVE captured the style of the patterns beautifully, and done an excellent job, I must say.

My only negatives are that with the unmodified camoflage, all the little details are, well, camoflaged. You can't see them. Highlights, waters, and some weathering would make them pop out nicely, and shouldn't detract from the theme, in my opinion. If you don't plan on doing any of that, however, I wouldn't make any drastic changes.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I would also like to know how you did your hat. I am working on my 1st Cavalry Division inspired guard army (and i will be stealing the camo idea for my legs ), and IRL Officers are allowed to wear Stetsons (ok well not in the field), so I want my officers to have stetsons. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

And not to insult anyone's intelligence, but in case you didn't know Stetson = kind of Cowboy hat

It is funny you mention that, because it is so true. I was in during the BDUs days, and to me one of the black splotches looked like a witches head...so when i got bored i would look to see where that pattern was on other people.

A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Canada and Proud !

Dear Ciaphas, this is gonna sound strange but I was just reading the Ciaphas Cain series (all of which I recently downloaded along with almost the entire black library) and it kinda reinvigorated my desire to paint (which I have not since I was a kid) so I started surfing and came across your posts and I must say… thanks for the inspiration. All of it the camo troops and everything, just spectacular. Just wanted to say thanks… and you have some real talent

Oh and I was going to start small and go buy a box of either 10 or 20 guard models (Cadian) but I want my guys to grow up to be like yours ie: with meltas, plasma guns, power fists and some all around badassery. What troop assortment should I get to begin and what paints should I get to begin (yet still be able to do your woodland and urban camo schemes)…. I remember in one of your posts you said you don’t like the snap-fit guards do to their lack of customizability… which are the Standard Guards and if I’m going to go out and get some how do I avoid the snap-fit ones… (p.s. I’m from Canada).

And thanks for reading my rants…

All the camo and detail work looks great, now I feel like retouching my own guard to look better. (Navy NWU digi pattern, sort of). Are the lasguns modified from normal ones or are they the Elysian drop troop rifles?

They're modified normal ones.
He filed down the optics that are normally filling in that groove, and then used a piece of plasticard over the top.

I don't remember what he used to make the little scopes though.

Scratch that. He used the head of a household pin.

Gathering the Informations.

If you can't be bothered to order the Vallejo, then why try to replicate his color scheme?

It's not hard to find places with Vallejo. The Warstore stocks it, and even sells color packs in regards to Flames of War, which will have alot of the colors you need for doing woodland, urban, etc color schemes.

Just don't forget to get some thinner, because the stuff is *really* thick, and even watered down it might go on odd.
