Get People to take Techmarines? Why would you not?

Slap the dude on a bike and hook him up with a MM attack Bike squad. Increases the accuracy of the MM's and adds close combat power to your unit.

Toasty!

There was a "Hellbore" that was even bigger. Titan-sized. Held a whole company of IG infantry.

Also, I'm not complaining, I'm criticizing. I can't wait to get my hands on one. It simply seems like SMs can't go a codex without having their own version of every type of troop in the game. And anything they can't supply themselves they simply pull from an inquisition book.

I think the confusion about your comment is happening because a thudd gun and a shok attack gun are nothing alike. A thudd gun was like a 4 barrel repeating mortar, and a SAG is a thing that teleports snotlings, or gretchin (?) into things for hilarious results. Some people reference the mole mortar when talking about this new marine thingy. That fired subterranean rounds to collapse the ground beneath a target, or to attack underground vehicles. I am not sure why these things make you think of the SAG.

The similarities are far more superficial.

They are both carried/dragged by tech specialists.
Both big heavy guns larger than most hvy weapons
Showing up around the same time.
etc.

Also, I think people can't get over this Thud gun thing. From what I've seen, the thunderfire is loosely based on the thud gun but is a different weapon in the end.

Actually I've bben using my tech marine all through 4th ed. He rocks as a counter charge unit when equipped with full harness, frags and combat shield or Iron Halo. Moves up uses flamer and twin-linked plasma pistol then assaults using his 3 force weapon attacks and two power fist attacks. 2+/(5 or 4+) for saves as well, which I think is decent for like 111pts. Works great when combined with a librarian or chappy.

I knew that new gun looked familer. As for the mole morter, the raiper, and the thudd gun, are they still viable guns in the new game, or are they going to be psudo forgeworld limbo status, yet again?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

isn't the mole just a large version of the termite (e.g. can fit small tanks inside too) there's one in the apoc book and that says to counts as a drop pod

Personally, I think I'll be converting up a Techmarine-portable Thundercannon - that'll be sure to turn some heads!

None of the old tunnelers could hold tanks, just infantry (though in the world of the far future where there is only war, anything is possible). A termite held a squad, a mole a platoon, and a hellbore a company.

Can we bring the mole mortar back as well? And, you know, Squats?

When I was at the new GW HQ in London last week I got a sneak peek at the new Squats. Apparently they're secretly spreading false info about new Dark Eldar stuff so people don't figure out they've really been working on bringing back the Squats all this time. The idea was that people will be so excited to see the new squats they will forget all about DE, so that army can slowly fade away.

Are we sure that there is going to be a 'Conversion Beamer' in the Space Marine Codex?

Or are we getting the Thunderfire Cannon 'instead', and someone thought they heard "Conversion Beamer"?

Nope, but that's what I recall from the early rumors.

I am hoping we get *both*.

1994. The Squat Thunderfire was a big antiaircraft weapon. As you can see, it's much bigger than a Leman Russ. No real relation to the new thunderfire, from what I can see.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

The old school Thudd gun had charm, I still have two, which I currently use as heavy mortars.

Yeah, mine has been gathering dust since it was axed from the Space Marine army list in 1998. It will be reincarnated as a Thunderfire soon, methinks.

I am actually in middle of creating what would be a more practical "termite" model. Using TBM with positional tracks locking in the sides etc...
