And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

Good find, every foam cutter I've seen is about 20-30 bucks. And they're mostly cheap, I had to take my apart and re-wire it the first day. I did see this foam cutting table (think band-saw) which was pretty cool (but 150!)

It was a very sad day when I discovered I can't get the blue or pink foam insulation in CA. I don't know why that is, but all we have is the stupid foam with tiny balls, utterly unsuited to modeling projects.

Hairspray was infinitely more effective... the better the hold the better the burn.
Hairspray burnt out much too quickly, and the pressure in the cans was never very impressive. WD40 or hornet spray keep the flame much better and get a good ammount of stick on a target rather than just flashing out in the air.

I use GW supplies sometimes.. I will usually get their super glue. It's thicker then the zap stuff I get.. and zap is a pain cuz it's always like water and if I knock over the bottle it ends up leaking, then I get a bottle stuck to my table forever.
I tried the GF9 superglue too, seems to be the same as GW's, same bottle shape and all.

I just use the cheap-ass "gel type" superglue from the grocery store. Works fine, and costs less than a box of saltines.

From what I was told by GW today, the problem is in the piece that attatches to the can. It's currently plastic, and attatches to a metal fitting. Two or three uses and the plastic loses out to the metal, starts to let pressure seep out, or comes loose.
In the prototypes they worked with, that fitting was metal, and had no problems. So at some point the manufacturer decided to save a nickel, and now gets to take them all back and re-do them correctly.
Better now than after they sold a bunch, and they didn't work correctly.

I hope when I get buy one, it's still a hand flamer.
Gonna make a neat part of my halloween costume.
Just hope I don't kill myself wearing all that neoprene and ethylene...wait a minute!

Well what will make you madder? Having it recalled and properly fixed so it wont break on you? Or buying something that will break the first few times you use it and then having to return it for a replacement.
Wait a few weeks..
Or save your money and go to a hobby shop and buy a proper airbrush that will last longer and work better.

I went in to my local GW today and was told the same thing. I had one on pre-order, and so I actually have it here, now. I dont feel like playing 'vent the can of propellant' though so wont try it out yet. I was told to just take it back into my local GW where they will give me a full refund.
Glad I read dakka and saw this thread before I went to use it, I dont think that would have been much fun!

They existed in the painting world (and cheaper) before GW made a hand-flamer shaped one.

Wrong URL. It's Hot Wire Foam Factory. I've got the "Hot Knife" which is basically a 10" awl- I was tired of the standard foam-cutter having that support arm that gets in the way and also prevents you from starting a cut in the center of a piece of foam.

Kid_Kyoto: Depends on the fuel. But mainly yes. Gasoline will melt PVC. So will many other oil bases. Many types of nylon are also heat sensitive. That should be fun!
There is a reason that military flamethrowers were constructed mainly of metal. Also, pressure regulation and air control is super important- not enough pressure and guess what? You get a nice flaming back light.
Besides, flamethrowers are so passe. Here's what you really want for man portable pyrotechnics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M202A1_FLASH
If you want a book on private flamethrowers look out for Breath of the Dragon: Homebuilt Flamethrowers, by Ragnar Benson . But be aware that they are illegal in states like CA!

I returned my spray gun yesterday and was told that they are working on getting a fixed version out ASAP. I must say that for once I am impressed with GW for not just letting a crappy product sit out there, and for taking care of it regardless of all the time, effort and resources they spent promoting it. I had no receipt as I got it from mail order but they still let me return it and the propellant at my local GW for a full cash refund which was nice too. Now to see if I can wait or end up buying a single action spray from somewhere else

Prolly because it posed an actual danger of bodily injury with the hose detaching from the propellant; anything else would have had a FAQ video on youtube. Wish they would do that with some of these rulebooks, army books and codicies. Just finished reading through Chaos Space Marines and it hurt my brain.

I can't say what Polonius saw. Hasslefree Miniatures are about the same price as GW. Infinity are a bit more. Pig Iron figures are cheaper. Historical miniatures generally are a lot cheaper.
It depends what you look for and how many you need.
Hasslefree and Infinity are "character" models where you only buy one of each. Compared to say Tau Pathfinders which £7 for a pack of three, and a full squad has eight, so you have to buy three packs and get one extra you don't need.

You get a starter for infinity at nice prices also the fact its a skirmish with so few models compensates the blisters cost of 7.5 euros.
If infinity made the mistake of say... rackham of killing skirmish and going big armies battles, prices would be a bit to much.
But GW also has sweet starters and some nice priced boxed sets... its plastic and not as detailed but are more than enough for a 50 plus models game...
I think these days companies look at each others, see their range for quality level and establish closer prices... well sometimes you have some fools that outprice themselves out of the hobbie with crappy overpriced stuff.
