I hated the film! I saw the first three in the theaters growing up and I loved them! Sure they were a bit over the top, but not as much as this last film!

I hated the CGI in the film, it was piss poor compared with Spielberg's other films! (lately there has been a lot of piss poor CGI, like in "I am Legend.")

I hated the monkey scene, the nuke scene and the Alien nonsense! I loved the 1 and 3 films, the second one was ok, but this one was utter crap!

But this is just my own 2 cents!

...Iron Man rocked! So the summer isn't all bad =D

Thanks,
Chappy P!

I am loooking forward to Dark Knight and Hellboy myself on the cool mindless entertainment realm.

Amen to that, bad CGI killed that one for me (though Mr. Smith's acting didn't help at times) ...

I know one person who actually liked Indy 4 - my fiancee's mom - and, including you Dakkites, legions of haters. So officially skipping this one! Though in the summer I find there are many movies that I'd like to see but have to miss for time and money concerns (like Get Smart or Kung Fu Panda) and end up having to make a list of ...

MOVIES I'M ACTUALLY SEEING THIS SUMMER
- Iron Man > great stuff
- The Happening > I can't dismiss it completely, but a fail overall
- Wanted > freaking fantastic movie, lots of fun and well done as well

- Hancock > honestly still on the fence, might end up missing it
- Hellboy II > no way in hell I'm missing this, Del Toro can do no wrong (and neither can loads of monsters nor Ron Perlman)
- Dark Knight > yep
- X-Files: IWtB > undecided here as well but if the woman wants to go I'll go (she's a bigger fan of the show than I)
- Mummy 3 > bothers the crap out of me that Evy is a totally different actress (though one I like more), but I love the other 2 in the series
- Death Race > *has to change pants just thinking about it*

So a pretty packed July, a movie I actually intend to see every week!

One thing affecting lots of modern movies is the incredible availability of computer graphics to do stunts and effects.

It has lead to totally unbelievable stunts and super-massive effects. Back in the day, stunts were more believable because on some level they were true.

There was trickery involved, but you could not fly a car across a canyon without actually flying the car over the canyon.

Seconded, Del Toro has really impressed me of late with both the first HB and Pan's Lab. especially.

With regards to the IJ latest : I read the other day that "Nuke the fridge" is the new "jump the shark".

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I mentioned "Jump the shark" at work the other day and almost no-one understood what I was talking about because most of them are under 30 and never saw Happy Days.

Similar thing hapened to me actually.

Honestly, what do they teach in schools these days !

I refuse to believe America is not still like that.

Happy Days, Batman and Transformers were staples of my school holiday viewing. That the seemingly endless Heidi show that no-one watched.

@ topic (ish) : huzzah ! loved that show, hurt I laughed so much watching it.

Hahah...Jumping the shark.

Funny story:

Friends and I were talking about Robin Williams and the topic of Mork and Mindy came up.
My one friend goes, "Oh yeah, Mork was introduced in Happy Days....that's definitely when they jumped the shark."
My other friend and I stare at her for a bit before we both go, "No.....They jumped the shark when the Fonz literallyl jumped the shark."

Personally I thought is was a little lame that they moved from spiritual to extra terrestrial. Also, I enjoyed the moved even dispite that.

However I do think that they made indy a little to unbeatable/invincible in this one. He was breezing through the dungeons just way too easily. Also the scene where he survives a nuke by hiding in a fridge was just stupid and had nothing to do with advancing the plot.

"Do NOT ask me if you can fire the squad you forgot to shoot once we are in the assault phase, EVER!!!"

But even my Kick-ass Marine in COD4 didn't survive a Nuclear attack.

The Movie was 'entertaining'-but so is a pack of Cheetos, an Interwebs connection(Dial-up) and Mountain Dew.

After paying $13-I would have rather sat at home, painted, and listened to a D6Gen Podcast.
