A few years ago, I consolidated my gaming and miniatures and refocused things down to the armies you see listed above. I don't expect that I'll be adding any new armies in the foreseeable future, as I went through a lot of effort on Bartertown to trim things back, selling and trading.

At this point, I don't believe that I have "too much" stuff at all. All of the stuff is stuff I want, and I don't have any pressing desires for stuff that I don't own. So it's a good alignment of haves and wants. If you have what you want, then that's all one can really ask for.

I'll agree with this. Although my buying and selling goes in cycles. Recently, though, due to the increases in prices, less time, and running out of energy to build more armies, I've only picked up new stuff through trades, etc.

Several years ago I sold about $4k+ of RPG's, board games, magazines, etc. for about $600. It was quite refreshing to get rid of all that stuff, open up the space, then start buying GW stuff. Of course, I've just managed to replace it all with different stuff

I still have plenty left to paint, so I think I'll be just fine for awhile, then start working on models or projects that are unrelated to an army, that are just projects I want to do.

Oh yeah, forgot Bloodbowl Humans and Orks, Bommaz over Da Sulfa River, Space Hulk, and various boardgames.

Kabal of the Tortured Soul 2000+ points (painted) - Balt GT '08 85th; Mechanicon '09 12th

Just read through this thread. I now feel totally vindicated by only having a dozen or so moving boxes full of stuff, opened and unopened. Should make my Ex read this.

Several years ago I was running a local league in which just about everyone played marines. I made it a point to try and have a different non-marine army every season, so about every three months. This coupled with me working for GW for about two years resulting in bitz order craziness left me with the following:

40K:

5000 points BA
2000 points DA
6000 points of Eldar
2000 Necrons
8000 pts IG
2000 points of Nids
4000 points of Chaos
2000 points SOB
100 old metal harlequins
2000 points of Orks
probably about 2K+ of random marine stuff I'm saving for the new dex.

Fantasy:

3000 points of Orcs
2000 points VC
2000 points mounted DE
2000 points mounted HE
2000 points mounted Chaos
2500 points Snotling Army

Plus various BFG fleets and Necromunda gangs and 3 of the last epic box set plus some extras

A slew of various minis I thought were cool not to mention Reaper and Warmachine.

The Dark Angels and VC were my main armies when I played (haven't since a few months after 4th ed 40K came out). Having all that stuff take up space, I sold most of it, it was a good way to pay for a big chunk of college, so go me.

All I've got now is the 2k of various marines, a Wood Elf army I just started collecting, the epic stuff, plus a slew of various one offs, a whole bunch of bitz (I'm talking 20-30 of each marine heavy and special, grey knights, necromunda gangs, etc), and random stuff but no armies. I of course have to obligitory 3rd ed box set and oh yeah still have that snotling army kickin around!

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

If my stuff seems excessive, it's just par for the course in our group.

A friend of mine has 30K of Eldar (including two Revenants!). He also has Tau (8K), Marines (3-4K), Guard (2K or so) and Orks (5-8K). Another one has a Chaos force of about 10-15K, and Eldar about 10K, plus he's putting together his Dark Angel army.

Another has a very cool 3K Grey Knight army, and more Tau than should be legal (he once bought the Tau Megaforce, took it home, looked at the contents, then walked back to the store and bought the other one they had). He has something like 20 Hammerheads now. His latest project is constructing the four Forge World Broadsides he has.

Then there's the other one, who's current count is 7 full Companies of Marines, one of them being Deathwing, one of them a full 8th Company (100 Assault Marines), plus he probably has enough parts left over to make a full 9th Company (100 Devs). 14 Land Raiders, 7 Dreads (I think), 30 bikes. Yeah. He's nuts.

And keeping in the spirit of the thread:

Oh, I forgot my Enforcers/Adeptus Arbites. They started off as a Necromunda Gang, but now I can field several squads of them if I want. And I once bought the parts needed to make up two 10-man Assault Squads, all with Beakie/Mk6 heads. By the time I had finished building I had three 10-man squads, all with Beakie heads. I don't know how that happened.

I can't paint!

Shaky hands, bad eyesight and a general lack of interest. I'm like modelling and playing, not a painting.

I actually bought the Necrons to force myself to paint (as they're really easy). Unfortunately, as I said, I have no room to put them once they are built, so that's on hold.

JohnHwangDD wrote:Also, do you have a picture of it all spread out across a garage floor?

No. I've got pics of my Guard army (sans the two Macharius' I still haven't built) all spread out somewhere...

JohnHwangDD wrote:the BT sprue is easily one of the best bitz sets GW has ever produced

Yes it is. Some of my best Deathwatch models use parts from the Black Templar sprue.

At least you build, but you could learn to bomb and dip for excellent results in little time.

Got a link to that?

I think your club alone is the reason GW will never go out of business

I'm cheap, I just buy what I use :( 20 hammerheads.. why does anyone need that many? Did ya ever have all 20 at once in a game?

3) Do have a "She Who Must Be Obeyed"? I notice that tends to limit (moreso than any other criteria) how much stuff you can accumulate.

Haha too funny! Mine is more like "She who must compulsively clean and organize and start new home projects which means clearing out the basement so we can refinish it and thinks I have too much stuff anyway."

I really need to have her read this thread to really get a grasp on how things are

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I sold half my stuff and I'm building my backlog.

That said, I still have at least 6k of Eldar and 3-4k of Chaos. (I probably still have 200+ metal 2nd edition aspect warriors - all types except banshees and 50+ metal 2nd edition Guardians that I just can't bear to part with.)

I have at least 1000 in every Warmachine faction and 2000+ in three.

I'm planning additions to my Chaos army as I type.

Not yet, but we would. I mean, the main Eldar player in the group has 12 Wave Serpents and 12 Falcons. I have 30 Russes, and I have used all of them in a single game before. In fact, we used the 12 Falcons, 12 Serpents and 30 Russes in the same game along with 3 Baneblades and a Scorpion. This was against an equal size force of Chaos.
