Emperor devours souls of thousands of psykers monthly to survive.

C'tan devours souls as an alternate( and much tastier) source of sustanence over star matter.

What if the "Emperor" that the psykers are fed too is actually a C'tan on Earth, and not on Mars? Only the Custodes see the Emperor, maybe they are actually crons of some kind? If that were the case, this particular C'tan would not need to destabilize the Imperium. Maybe, in fact, this C'tan is actively preventing the Imperium from advancing, and thusly preventing the Emperor from being revived, as this would stabilize and accelerate man's accendance as a psychic race. By guiding the belief structure of the Imperium into such a state the the status quo of the "Golden Throne Bound Emperor" is never changed or challenged, it sets itself up to be sustained indefinetely, in a sinister symbiotic relationship with mankind.

Sounds like the Deciever to me.

Your oh so close buddy....
But the Thing on the Golden Throne isnt a C'tan....
Its Horus.

Think about it for a second and it will all make perfect sense.....
What if during the Final Battle on Terra when Horus and the Emperor lay alone bleeding on the floor Abbadon burst in and found his Friend dying. What if he knew the only way to save him was for him to finish off the Emperor and switch Horus with the Emperor. He then dragged "Horus" aka the dead Emperor off and disposed of his body in the Warp so nobody would find out about it until it was too late. Now who is to say that some of the people who built the golden throne werent loyal to Horus and helped with its construction and placed Horus into it to keep him alive until a time when Chaos would reign supreme and he would once again take his rightful place as the ruler of mankind.

This would explaine several things including why Abby is Launching his Crusades trying to get to Terra, Why the Custodians wont let anyone near the throne (they either know its Horus and dont want anyone to know, or are Horus Loyalists), Why Horus's body was never found ect ect.

If anyone knows the actual story that supports this please post a link. I had it printed out but it was lost due to water damage.

C'tan do not have a warp presence. So no one with a soul could ever be a C'tan. If the emperor or laughing god were ever C'tan then necrons would be seen operating towards their interested. Have a few tomb ships take out Horus or give humanity space travel that does not require the warp.

The emperor maintains a psychic beacon for humanity - that requires a warp presence.
the laughing god acquires the souls of harlequins - that also requires a warp presence.

C'tan don't eat souls - they suck the life energy out of living creature. They have nothing to do with the warp other then the fact that they hate it and want to seal it off from the galaxy.

The guy on the throne is the emperor.

Horus was vaporized by the emperor’s mind blast. He was destroyed so thoroughly that not even his soul existed – the emperor did this so that the chaos gods could not retrieve Horus.

The emperor was conscious when Dorn discovered him. The emperor explained how to build the golden throne and for a while would wake up and give orders, one of those orders was to build the grey knight chapter. Also the emperor was not so badly damaged that he was no longer recognizable as the emperor. The fact that he was conversing with his surviving primarchs is pretty strong evidence that no identify theft occurred.

He wouldnt have been able to, when grunt13 started that he was completely vaporized, nothing left.

Meaning someones got the story completely wrong.

I'm not saying that the Emperor isn't on Earth or that it isn't the Emperor on the Throne, but maybe somehow a C'tan has placed himself in a part of the process to benefit from it. As if... the Imperial Palace has been turned into a prison for the Emperor by a C'tan, who recieves the souls meant for the Emperor, and uses the Custodes and other agents of the Imperium to keep the Great Leader of Mankind from escaping his fleshy prison and advance Humanity to a state that could effectively fight the Crons. Maybe the Inquisition is being manipulated on a grand scale sort of thing.

Best guess is that the Emperor’s Children were bluffing.

I remember reading that a similar thing happened in the 1930’s with the Nazis. The German government staged a fake UFO crash and put space clothes on a shaved dead monkey. They stated to the world that they were harvesting the technology from the downed ship. Later when no one was buying it, the Nazis said it was a joke on the German newspapers. As everyone knows the Nazis where known for their sense of humor.

With a fake clone of Horus the emperor children could bluff out the other chaos legions. Or they could have acquired a clone from the black legion.

A c’tan can mimic the form of living creatures, but they still are composed of metal and not in possession of a warp presence. Any psyker or other form of mental/metal detection would determine the identity of the C’tan

Don't ever single member of the black legion have Horus's DNA to some extent. Acquiring his genetic material can't be that hard.

And C'tan don't eat souls, they eat energy.

The golden throne was built before heresy to control a webway gate. The use of this machinery killed Malcador, who was acting as
a replacement when the emperor fought Horus.

Abaddon has fled with the Flagship of Horus from the battle, taking the few remnants of Horus with him.
To clone, there may be only little material needed.

The black legion would never give any copy of horus away. The few pieces left of Horus were destroyed when the other Traitors attacked the BL.

Had the pictured saved on my computer couldn’t find the article. I not going to vouch for the credibility of the article I read – can’t really as I can no longer find it. Sorry I didn’t say take with a pinch of salt had to rush off to work. Was just trying to fit two pieces of contradicting fluff into a rational story and the article came to mind.

I can’t refute what the sentiment towards was aliens 70 years ago. All I can say that aliens in literature has been around for over a hundred years, War of the Worlds was written in 1898. A quick wikipedia search for movies featuring aliens reveals the following movies that were produced before 1930; A Trip to the Moon 1902, Himmelskibet 1917 Denmark, Aelita 1924 Russia, The First Men in the Moon 1919. Flash Gordon was a popular character in Sunday comics during the 30s. The H.P. Lovecraft wrote most of his works in the 1920s in magazines dedicated to horror and alien fiction. I think it is safe to say that many in the world were well aware of the notion of aliens in the 1930s.

Salt is needed.

The "guys in brown" had a ideology of superiority. In their view is no place for others to be superior in any way.Advanced Tech implies superiority and is not viable with such ideology.
There are lots of stories and articles about "secret hightech" or "mysteries" from those dark times.
True is: research for archeological artifacts to support ideology.
True is: secret training and research of military vehicles and weapons in russia.
The reason for wild speculations is the use of "the brown guys" as archenemy in movies and books.
Too much fiction especially in the english speaking countries.

The 1930's are a period of masses of poor people in mid-europe.Cinema and books are expensive, your examples not common in germany in this time.Well aware of sci-fi-stories may be true for america.
The changes since WW II were significant. Not easy to look back and grasp the view of our grandparents.
Many people never saw more than their neighbours in a short distance ( maximal 1 day travel).
Why should anyone who has not seen africans or asians in real believe in UFO and extraterrestrians to be existant?

well the nightbringer had slept for how many years...., so he had a choice, ultramarines to kill and probably die with lack of energy, or run off and eat a star or something, plus when the necron codex is redone, the c'tan are being left out for apocolypes, so they will be able to harness all there power...hopefully into a titan killing monster

One vortex grenade is all it takes to "kill" a C'tan.

While the C'tan is not necessarily dead just trapped in the warp in which it can't easily escape.

i wouldnt doubt that, just played a jetbike heavy eldar army, and he was just sending farseer after farseer and more junk into a single fex, ok, he killed it, but it cost him over 700 points XD
while he was doing that my stealers sat on the objectives and let the ravs and winged tyrants shoot about killing anything in reach

just think that too many people seem to rely on so called "super characters", they dont make an army on thier own
and they can be killed with not too many problems.

As I recall, he wasn't beaten by the Ultramarine when he woken up, the particular marine had managed to find, and was threatening to destroy, holding hostage the keys to his big ol ship of doom. It was basically a silent agreement (if you'll pardon the term) between the two that Nightbringer would leave for the moment, allowing the space marine and what was left of his unit to survive/flee, if the keys to his ship were left intact for him to come after later. It does mention later in the book that the device was brought back to Ultrimar. I wouldn't call this, owned. I'd call this a desperate manuever by someone who was seriously outclassed and outgunned, that struck the one temporary weakness the opponent had when he wasn't in a good position to squash the puny marine.

That theory sounds pretty logical, i mean c'mon, it is the SM.

But otherwise a deal like that would make perfect sence.

5th edition rulebook
Surely you mean repair the Emperor himself?

You can't repair the emperor.Hes not damaged like a machine.

The Ctan could transfer his knowledge about nullshields to the imperium/emperor.
(remember Ctan know methods to shield whole planets.)
With this "help", the webway could be sealed and the throne doesn't need to control the webgate a "admin"/emperor.
Now the emperor would be free to act.

If the emperors body is too much destroyed to heal or be cloned, his spirit may be saved.
The emperor in his spiritual form is not restricted as he was as human.
Have the emperor at your side if you need him.
He will know of your need and come to aid humanity in their struggle against xenos and heretics.
