Like was mentioned in the "poppycock.." thread ( still waiting for an answer about Grit magazine there btw !) the accusations of who is a left leaning candidate baffles much of the rest of the world.

Well, yea. But I'm trying to gauge what is viewed as a leftwing candidate in the US. As an expatriate Democrat, I'd posit Obama, Maxine Watters, that crowd. I'll let others opine what is right wing (I have ideas but they're out of power or dead I think-I don't pay attention to them so get behind the time).

That's an attempt to obscure my point. The left-right spectrum is frequently used to characterize Democratic candidates as 'Commies'; something which couldn't be farther from the truth.

As I said, I don't place value in the isolated US political spectrum. To me, there are no left leaning US politicians. But if you want to use a system where conservatives aren't really conservatives, then sure, Obama would be a left leaning.
