A friend of mine used a dab of glitter on his power swords, it didn't look too shabby. This might work for the power fist....maybe.

Use Devlan Mud wash on your figs. Just slop it on and let it dry. I think you will be happy with results, as it adds instant shading and detail.
Is that blue legs, 2 shades of purple on your Berserkers? Insane!
Go with what you like.

for the glowing, which i really like btw, I'd paint the blade black, and then do what you've already done. I don't think that the green goes that well with the metal.
And your Plasma pistol guy is great.

IMO, the purple and blue don't work very well together. They're too close in coloration and that causes the figure to lose some definition. You could consider a secondary color that is an opposite to purple, such as a yellow, orange, or bone. Overall nice job though, especially for a beginner.

Hmm.. Since I have bone I think I'll give it a try. I'll post pics to for a comparison. I'm honestly a little sketchy as to how well it will work, but I think you're right as to them needed more contrasting color's to compliment eachother. But I'm really trying for a more subdued "undercover" color scheme. The orange sounds good also, so I will have to snatch some up as well. Stay posted for updates, and seriously, thank you for the advice!

One of the best things you can go is to put your hands on some crappy old press-fit marines from the set before the Battle of Macragge. I use those to test out various color schemes and test different paints in general. They're crappy boring mono-pose figures so no one cares about them, but they do have all the marine parts so you can get a really good feeling what your marines will look like.
