Someone above mentioned that the MoS is only pretty good, since for a bit more you can be ITP via frenzy, with MoK.

Let me disagree strongly. Being immune to Fear, Terror and Panic while not being ITP is roughly a billion times better than being ITP, because you can flee charges. That's HUGE. An MoS army essentially combines the best features of a living army and an ITP army. If only they could take ITP style casualties instead of break tests it'd be perfect.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

You're confusing Immune to Psychology with Unbreakable for the casualties bit.

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.

I'm referring to the way that Vampires/Daemons (the ITP armies) replace the Break Test with casualties. MoS would be perfect if it did something similar. Sadly, they still take Break Tests. Nonetheless, being immune to terror, fear and panic while still retaining the ability to flee is still the best morale situation available in the game to this point. ATSKNF for fantasy.

on the flip side, things like spells and magic items that dont work on ITP units will work on MoS units. Its minor and I do agree that MoS is better that ITP.

Canary Islands, Spain.

I do think is a great abbility to have for mere 10 points per unit, good to not autobreak, when a fear causing enemy wins a combat.

I'd like to talk about the lore of Nurgle what do you think about it?

the basic spell for nurgle is hot. Not only does it make the opponents easy to kill, but your herald/GUO cant be hurt. S1 v T5-6 doesnt work.

Big winners in the book are marauders (normal and mounted), chaos knights and chaos characters. Most other things are more or less the same, but in terms of how I can see the list changing:

- exalted champions on demonic mounts will probably become more prevalent, especially slaanesh ones
- heavy magic, and fighty mage set-ups, combining melee attack with magic defence seem to be a good force multiplier (I am thinking sorcerer on demonsteed with sword of might and warrior familiar, 5 S5 attacks with Ws5 and M8 gives some nice tactical options)
- some MSU configs are more possible

The chaos special characters, much like the DoC ones are probably going to become increasingly popular, given they permit some strategic options otherwise missing in the list. Throgg is very strong for his cost, even if you take no other trolls. Just sitting in a marauder unit, he adds a lot of hitting power, and fear. Festus can give regerate to a unit which is nice.

Magic heavy is likely to be popular, what with chaos troops being such good fighters, strong magic can round out the list nicely, and open up avenues for dealing with units that can be otherwise problematic. While dispel dice are now hard to get hold of, magic resistance is not. That chaos characters fight so well in melee, at least against unit champions can be a big help.

Supported by the ever viable warrior chariots and ogres, chaos armies look to be very playable under the new rules. The problem will be balancing a list for all comers, there are less all around choices in the book than we would have hoped, and the lack of effective auxilliary outside hounds and horsemen means that matchup problems are going to have to be solved via tactical means, not strategic ones, which could cause more problems down the path.

Bring on the Hordes!

I want to tray at 3000 points the shaggoth lord and 3 shaggoths and a unit of dragon ogres running accross the table at the enemy.

2 mages with 4 dispel scrolls.
x4 25 man models of marauders
Fill the rest with chaos hounds and whatever you want...

Will smash the annoying WE treeman army.

Very true.

I am currently thinking MSU army full of flying sorcerers, a hellcannon and then something that I have not yet decided upon to lead it.

Lots of movement and magic, a bit like the older DE style lists.

At 2000 points

Also multiple warshrines (one MON for -1 to hit shooting and -1 WS) , one MOT for 3+ ward save)

Then run a horde of marauders and multiple knight units.
The knights get the eye of the gods rolls and hammer the enemy.

I hate magic heavy. GW continues to screw all my armies. I guess it's time to eBay my fantasy.

One possible use of Chosen is in their minimum unit size of 5.
You can get relatively cheap units of 6, with large numbers of high strength attacks. You would still lose the special slot though.
