thx now I understand what he meant, making the end of the gun bigger

that would indeed look cooler, got to think with what I will do that (I dont have 30 snipers lying at home) so I will have to look for toothpiks or something like that

I really like your scratchbuilt chimera! I would like to see how you did it or how you came up with a nice scale that matches the minis. I say double kudos for you for making such a nice looking vehicle out of....card? You may want to try adding thin plasticard plates to it to cover up the tape/glue joins or whatnot. Anyway.. Good job! I would play you anytime if just for the fact that you showed some dedication and craftsmanship on your building.

To note on his present modeling, the wire going back to the backpack could very easily be the beef - our present presentation of the Hellgun is very much like a lasgun without a butt, with a targeter and the wires going back.

That's the beef.

I myself don't want to dink around with green stuff and guitar strings, so I use the sniper barrels.

@nemissary

How I came up with the plan, well during a class I created the list for the tournemant and because I really like the german tactics from WW II i made a list with a lot of tanks and a few elite squads to break the enemy line. because my entire guard army is painted with a german grey I thought Hey why not make half tracks and I started drawing (without any model with me) it wasnt that great at first but the day afterwards we had another boring class so I tried it again and it look ok for me so when I got home I compared it with a model and my hellhound and it looked quiet good so I started building.....

and what happened after that you can see in this topic.

at the moment I have too much work for school and I'm nearly out of greenstuff so I can't continu my work I'll get some green stuff this friday but no problem I can start painting what I have already finished. I will upload some more pictures tomorrow afternoon.

oh and by the way I ordered 20 heads for my storm troopers (someone from my gaming group placed a big order so no cost for the sending of it)
he will order them by the end of the week and if I'm lukky I'll have them in 2 weeks

Because I kept painting il post a few pictures of what I have (soon in +/- 1 houre)

You guys may notice that my stormtroopers arent painted yet this because i wanted to finish my platoon and command squads which are now ready except some numbers on shoulder pads and a wash on some models others need basing.

When i watched to photos I noticed that under their armpits my storm troopers are still black got to give them some paint their

this weekend I will start building the other three half tracks and I hope to have them finished in 3 weeks together with the storm troopers, at least modeled them not painted

Storm troopers are excellent.
Primed chimera looks decent although I’d probably take the cab and hitch onto the front of an ork vehicle of some type. Don’t forget to strengthen the frame. You might test coating the inside with glue –elmers or wood glue-to see if it strengthens as well. Just a thought.

I'd definetly have to recommend some plasticard. It's relatively cheap (You can get plenty of sheets of it for ten bucks at most hobby stores), and you can use plastic glue on it, so nobody has to see masking tape on your model. Plus it's a lot sturdier, and will probably end up looking quite a bit better.

I like the general idea of it and everything, but how it looks now....just kind of makes my brain itch. If you're not going to throw down for some plasticard, at least add some rivets or something to that transport.

I'd add that plasticard is dirt cheap and easy to use-can be cut with scissors and you can use bits of sprue as reinforcing bars. I did that with my basilisk and it came out quite well.

I'll go to a store and look at the stuff before I buy it, but that will be for friday
so for now on only storm troopers at work no halftraks any more before I've seen that plastic card

It's actually much easier to cut with a razor, assuming you have something with a flat edge to run it against. Just one clean cut with a razor (not even all the way through), and you should be able to bend along the line you made until it breaks.

It also comes in tube form that's good for gun barrels on tanks and such. The smaller-gauge strips make good rivets. Also, there are solid rectangular pieces that make good reinforcement bars.

Many companies make Plasticard (Or sheet styrene, if you can't find it under that name), and there are some packages that come with all assortments of sheets and other pieces, like tubes and bars. That's a good place to start.

Off topic a little, but I dig what you've done with your Hellhound with the tubing and everything.
