honestly why does it matter if someone posted with all caps in the title? My god as much as I love dakka, the people on it can really irritate me on things.

Anywho, personally I think its kind of lame, that chaos marines (notice I said marines not mutated demons) cant use regular Imperial weapons. Even if you had to pay more or only allow some characters or units to use them. They were space marines at one point in time.

But we get defiler, marks, DP, & possessed (they don't suck, idk why dakka hates them so much).

I love when people on the internet moan and groan because letters are typed out bigger than they are needed. Everyone assumes people ARE SHOUTING WHEN THEY USE ALL CAPS SO IT SEEMS WRONG TO DO IT. And yet, it does nothing except make a sentence stand out and get a point across, exactly what he probably wanted to do. It's a letter either way guys, just deal with it. You can't control people (not all true but go with it) so learn to cope.

Anyways, I've wondered this kind of thing as well. CSM beat SM in battle, so why don't they steal assault cannons? CSM have renegades yet they somehow turn into same-old same-old marines? I've always thought they should have a seperate troops choice in CSM codex for Chaos Renegades. They can retain old wargear, cost more probably, but they also would add a more fluffy feel to the list. Then again, just play SM if you're gonna do that. XD

TH + SS combos are not in the Chaos dex because they were exceedingly rare before the heresy

Storm Hammers were used exclusively by a Legion that didn't go over to Chaos during the rebellion and since that chapter was nearly made extinct, there weren't very many successor chapters for Chaos to corrupt.

As such, no Space Marines wielding Storm Hammers became Chaos Space Marines. Not because Storm Hammers make you less suseptible, but because they are rarely utilized weapons.

How about none of the dark mechanicum know how to fix them so the few that are used by chapters that turn to chaos don't last for very long. The dark mechanicum are not scientists or engineers, they only know how to fix specific things. Knowing how to fix a particular power weapon does not mean you know how to fix all the others.

If this were the case and the dark mechanicum knew about scientific principles then they would be producing new and improved weapons all the time which is obviously not the case. Their level of technical knowledge is not much greater than that of their imperial counterparts and actually seems a great deal inferior. I suspose that can be put down to renegade/chaos chapters relying more on the power of the warp to win battles than "human" technology.

The above then raises the question of why can't chaos marines use any weapon or vehicle of any other faction such as the eldar for instance? That is unless the chaos humans inherited their xenophobic attitudes from their imperial ancestors.

Well, Chaos Marines also have access to a number of weapons the Imperium doesn't such as Noise Blasters, Chainfists, Hellfire Assault Cannons, Obliterator guns that can transform into any weapon imaginable... why does no one ask why the Imperium doesn't have all of these?

The Imperium does not get pretty Chaos toys because they fail to see the true nature of the universe and instead worship and revere the Corpse-Emperor on his Golden Slab.

A possible answer is that most SM troops that use TH/SS are so pious that most if not all of them never sway to Chaos, and since they're such elite troops, they are not killed in great numbers (if at all) and it's impossible to field Chaos squads with enough looted hammers and shields.

MoT chaos termies with TH/SS would be fun though! +2 armor/ +2 inv saves hooray!

Noise blasters and obliterators are chaos corruptions so the imperium cannot manufacture these as they require demonic presence to create. Marine terminators do have chainfists. Hellfire ammunition is rare so putting it in an assault cannon would be wasteful. Scouts are issued with limited rounds for their heavy bolters in case they encounter larger tyranids while scouting, particularly as they don't wear power armour. Even then the heavy bolter only fires at a fraction of its normal speed.

Unless there's another codex, I thought demons could be used with the summoned greater demon and summoned lesser demons options?

Because GW didn't want to deal with Chaos terminators with mark of Tzeentch and storm shields.

Chaos will just have to make due with the option for a 4+ invulnerable save while still having full weapons choices, I guess.

Or the cumulative option for +1A, or the option for +1T, or the option for +1I, or the other option for +1A, and all the options for Combi-Weapons.

Thunder Hammers? You need a Storm Shield to survive what Chaos Terminators can throw at you.
