not that i am a Darkangels fan (bunch of wannabe Blood Angels IMO) but if you read Deathwing they are rembered by their familys and they do think about the past but to be an SM you have to be more than one of the sheep and to be more than one of the sheep requires sacrifice and dedication so you give up a lot of things....

Of course if your a Greay Knight ya get mid wipped fromt he start..

And the Space Wolves (the only real SM's) when your not stuffing your fist down the neck of a chaos pussy marine you drink get drunk and fall down so that sort of covers the question

I am out of touch with it, last time I played we had squats, trikes, ratlings and robots....
Dreadnoughts had twin bolters mounted on the back of there hands, Guardsmen carried Lascannons and Heavy Bolters on their shoulders and sentinels has Assault cannons...
Ahhh so many fond memories, So many dead eldar.....

You're right, lefties are heretics.

Pre-Heresy, marines probably had a lot more time to themselves. Post-Heresy everyone was scared the marines would rebel again, so most of their time is now spent drilling and praying to the Emperor.

You are refering to the description of the daily routine of a space marine in the third edition Codex?
Then I think you are right, 15 minute of free times per day.

to answer the "real marine" question, the answer would be luna wolves.

orks have the best lives.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

cerberez wrote:Yeah, this stuff is probably covered in the books, but I'd rather hear peoples' opinions about it. And the books look a little silly to me.

It's worth the read, they're really good.

I'm sure their families remember them, but they generally give their life to the Marines. And after 200 years of fighting-most probably forget about their past lives. I'm not aware of any chapter which retains contact with familes after they've been accepted.

NO

cerberez wrote:Is there any fluff of space marines doing anything besides fighting, praying, etc?

Do they ever go back and see their families from before they were space marines?

Do they even remember their prior lives or do they get brainwiped when they "enlist?"

these are important questions for me.

They do not get brain wiped. i+n the ultramarine books, he can perfectly rember his family and former home, and i believe it was in the 4ed codex, but the codex says sm have free time, and the salamanders actually lead communities, but they do cut off all connections with family(just as in they cannot go and see them) but grey knights are totally brain wiped.

Fire warriors - They love the afternoon game of thrisbe with the drones.
Crisis suit pilots - They watch gundam anime, and talk about all the new suits and suit features. "You heard about the xv89's man.."
Stealth suit users - Hide and seek XD
Kroot - They always seem to go behind the nearby shed and lick paint......... When they come back they are multicolored.
Pathfinders - They are always hanging around the sky ray...... and pointing their markerlights at others...
