Actually, pretty much all of the "big" tables were amazing.

I still prefer that giant cathedral and giant destroyed tower though.

the ruined cathederal was there too, it would be manic having a fight over that one!

An itemised bill for the building of the big table would be useful to see just where they spent the 10k to build it!

That sultan gaming board is fething crazy.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

The table did cost that much, i was one of the guys who worked on it. Im am very glad you liked it, it took about 1 month solid all told with 3 guys working on it. We built it for games day last year (2008) and the planet strike release. Tho i have still not had a game on it which sucks.
We have just finished another games day table which i think will top this one in cost. Tho we have not added it all up yet but i think it will beat £10,000. Pics are on whats new today on the gw website of us building it. They took some more pics today so you will get a good over view of it in a couple of days.

Cheers

But did you factor in GW white PVA glue at like $7US/bottle or GW Sand at around $10US for a small packet?

I saw this a few weeks ago when I went up to Warhammer World. The table is even more impressive in the flesh and well worth a visit. I agree with the OP though, I would be frightened to death of damaging it to ever consider playing on it!

Wish this table would make its rounds to the battle bunkers of the US. Id pay some good money ($10 is good right?) to play a game on that board.

Or all the GW paint at $3.70US per 12ml?

I see that nobody is factoring in the cost of labor, which is probably where most of that $20k went. Especially, when you consider GW's overhead structure...

There is still a huge discrepancy in cost, though.

Just to point to the people that are doubting the cost, I was working in resins at the time and Helped the Q-Lab boys out on parts of the board. A lot of planning and prep goes into this type of thing, along with many unique pieces to be designed and made. Some modifications have had to be made to prevent pieces lifting off, although this hasn't stopped some stupid oiks breaking stuff, as mentioned earlier.

I have to say it's really disheartening to go into the hall and sometimes have to stop people ragging the gun turrets around or digging into the surface to see what's underneath.

Unfortunately like Kanen, I haven't found the time to have a game either...Planet strike anyone

It's certainly impressive, though I'm not impressed by their lack of imagination on the plasma generators (would DoW style ones be that difficult to make?).

Didn't this table pop up in the Planetstrike rulebook?

If you are talking about the plasma generator that is just superheavy guns on end, you have to remember the whole table was made with miscasts, so in my opinion its pretty creative.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

The forgeworld pieces were likely miscasts that they needed to something with. Net cost is likely very little, the board is an exercise in efficient recycling, not wastage.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

10,000 does not = $20,000 btw... more like $16000 at current rates, and I still doubt the table cost 10k gbp. More like 3-5 at retail which Gw does not pay GW/FW.

More like "we need a couple Imp Fortresses and some reaver/warhound bits".... "Got any mist casts in the back room or in storage?" or "Got time to cast us some?, yes" , "Thanks bring them on over..."
