Is that chaos looking face a Demon Engine of Khorne or something?

I think so. The picture filename is "bshead.jpg." I'm going to bet it's the return of the late, semi-lamented Blood Slaughterer.

The Blood Slaughterer was a Khornate Daemon Engine, and it was a reasonable size and not an Epic-scale monster that would take months of planning to sculpt, cast and release.

Here's a pic of the 40k 2nd-edition era miniature. If that FW pic is indeed a preview of a new Blood Slaughterer, it looks much better. Much, much better. Much, much, much better...

It first appeared in an old WD, as you can read here.

I think I've got vague memories of it later having one of those datasheet targetting thingys, it might well have been in early 2nd edition...but if so not for very long.

It may have been in the Black Codex from 2nd. I'll have a look if I have time.

With a Reaver costing in the area of AUD$1200-ish, it is probably a good idea to remind my fellow Aussie posters that we pay wonderful import duty on all orders $1000 and above (got stung AUD$300 on our first group FW order... never making that mistake again).

in theory wouldnt it be possible for a 2nd part to buy a model from FW (in the UK) and then have it sent out to aus?

Yeah, I guess not 2nd edition, but in that weird area when RT was kind of over, GW was releasing full-blown 40k army lists and rules in WD, and the 2nd edition box wasn't out yet.

I believe scholars call it "1990-1992."

The Blood Slaughterer can duke it out with the original plastic Tyranid Warrior in the All Ugly-Off.

Not a great time for large GW miniatures, the early 90s. Nagash came out around then too...

I think I have about 40 old Tyranid Warriors. I love those models. Sadly none of the original original metal ones. Then again I love old models, even the bad ones. My RT-era Land Raider is awesome!

I found the BloodSlaughterer listed under chaos vehicles in the 2nd ed Codex Army Lists packet. But it merely says "see datafax" so the WD must have been the only way to get rules.

I dimly remember it may have had a Datafax, but rather than a pic of the model, it had a rather confusing sillhouette?

yeah,
My googlefu is poor, I've tried but failed to find the Data Card.
The DataFax was in WD 153 if anyone Knows a website with article scans?

While searching I found the bloodslaughter on page 93 on this chapter approved PDF

Basically from what I can make out is that if you apply the charter approved VDR rules you get a 109pts light Walker armed with two dreadnought weapons and two heavy bolters.
with Armour 11 - 11 - 10
BS 4
WS4
S 5 (10)
I 4
A 3

they copied the same fluff,
Amongst the Greatest of Khorne's Weapons are the Daemon Engines. Daemon Engines are literally Daemonic
machine creatures made of iron and brass, covered with heavy armour of black steel, and marked with the brass runes
of Khorne. They are deadly hulking monstrosities, bristling with weapons. The Blood Slaughterer is a deadly
opponent as it hurtles across the battlefield on its iron bound wheels, spraying death from the heavy bolters
mounted in its chest, or tearing its enemies apart with its axe and whip in hand to hand combat. The Blood
Slaughterer will charge anything that gets in its way, attacking ferociously until it is destroyed.

Lol...

The blood slaughter looks pretty cool as do the nurgle demon engine. It'll be cool when FW gets around to it and does the other chaos gods constructs as well.

I think its interesting that some one pointed out the influence of the Epic "Knights" on the Blood Slaughter, since there is rumored to be a nurgle daemon engine (in addition to the flying ones) that's yet to be seen but is roughly the same size. Because about a year ago FW had a bunch of their concept art out for daemon engines and one had "nurgle" penciled in a corner looked alot like this guy:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/26584-Knight%20Warden%20MkI.html

Anyone have a pic of the concept art I'm speaking of? I know I have it at home so I'll upload if no one else does (after work).

Its nice to see that entering "Knights" and "daemon engines" over and over again in FW recommendation space worked.

This thing was a leftover from the old RT days and was already out when 2d edition was brand new.
Khorne had them, and the juggernaughts, and I have the red bordered card for it.

It was one of those things that, If GW was to make it would be the size of the new demon/ vehicle hybrid.
As a matter of fact, I thought that this was supposed to be the new Demon engine called the soul grinder.

Think of it as the Squats long lost wife.
