This has been great insight! I think I will leave the vehicles the way they are, and just ever so slightly increase the height of the marines by 2mm (tacticals), 6mm (termies), and 12mm for dread....

I say go for it, Marines are marines, there are advantages, but accordingly to the fluff they should be bigger, if I had the modelling skills to do it I would as well... and hell, I'd teach my fellow players (CSM and other SM) to truescale theirs as well...

for official tourneys and such be ready with an official sized army though

I voted no, another too much cheesy moving wall syndrome.

However, if the intentions are good and it looks good I wouldn't object. Just overall it would be a no from me.

Good luck with the conversions!

i voted yes but that would be in a FLGS game night situation. for a tourney, i'd say no. the moving wall could be abused especially when playing for prizes/prestige in a tourney.

I voted YES, and my reasoning is simple :

If you are using these upscaled vehicles with an equally upscaled infantry contingent it's going to look awesome, but the tactical advantage just isn't as big as some seem to think.

Yes, the larger Rhino is going to provide a larger area of cover on the table, but that is a double edged sword. Once the enemy has blasted the gak out of the chunky-butt marines who survive the wrecking of the Rhino, the wreck remains for enemy to benefit from as cover !

Go for it, build the suckers, just post pics of the results and, if possible, batreps as well. I, for one, would be very interested.

I dread to think...

So is this implying that the rhino is the same size as a BANEBLADE????? WHAT THE HELL!!!!

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the Jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building. Copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How in the name of Russ does a thread title that says "Rhino the size of Landraider. Land Raider the size of Banebalde. Okay with you in game?" indicate a Rhino is the Size of a Baneblade?

What he means is "Rhino the size of GW Landraider. Land Raider the size of GW Banebalde. Okay with you in game?" That clear now?

No sir.

I am "true scaling" my marines. They are 20% larger then out of the box marines.

If I convert a landraider into a rhino looking vehicle, that'd be correct proportionate scale of a rhino for my increased sized marines.

I increased my termies by 25% their size, and a baneblade would be appropriate size for conversion into a landraider.....

Point costys wouldn't change. Armour and stats wouldn't change. There'd be a larger target. Including the marines, being bigger, more people can draw line of sight.....So I am not trying to gain advantage in a game, I am trying to make a really cool army that is truer in their scale, for others to enjoy playing against....

I love the WOW factor! Win or lose......I like to play

i think, for rhinos it comes down to how you use them...
are you the guy that uses them as walls to block LOS to your dudes, or to transport them?
we all know that there is a big difference between having a blown up rhino and a blown up rhino that has guys in it

Wehrkind wrote:Be careful upscaling your rhinos and landraiders too much. A lot of people I see making rhinos "properly fit 10 marines" really butcher it, as they seem to forget that you can squeeze a lot of people in a very small space. APCs are not built for comfort, and as such being able to stand fully erect is not a requirement. Neither is elbow room or cup holders
But that is more a modeling concern, not a rules/gaming concern. Game wise I wouldn't have a problem with it, but in a tourney I would fully expect people to be a little twitchy on the subject, as using the LR for extra assault distance, or Rhinos as moving walls would get easier.

Is the rhino big enough to hold ten marines? It depends on how much they want to get in there. I've been in AAV's overloaded by 6 bodies; it sucks but it can be done. I think the Mk IIC can hold ten SM's, personally. It wouldnt be comfy, but werein a few hundred pounds of armour can't exactly be comfy either.
