Because believing that book is like believing a fallen.. Of course hes gonna justify himself. Just like all traitors and criminals.

Hmm I wouldn't go as far to say that EVERY DA fan was upset about it...

The thing to remember with Angels of Darkness is that its more of a Character profile on one of the Fallen, as opposed to an account of events pre, during or post-heresy...

Astelan's angle in that particular novel is pretty damn cool as it is, because it brings to light how some of the pre-primarch legion members felt about the primarch being found. So it's got an interesting argument. It's not as straight up-and-down as one would think...and I for one certainly developed a certain sympathy for how Astelan felt about things.

I'd emplore you to read Fallen Angels, as Astelan features quite heavily in this book too, and it'll bring to light a few more things...Astelans angle in this particular novel is less potent but still very important. As is the Lion's himself...it really does do a great job of establishing the Primarch.

I also wonder about the 8 months' unconsciousness being significant. I thought Khorne too, but I don't know... maybe the 8 has something to do with the Ouroborous symbol?

Also, there are two tie-ins with Legion: the Watchers being part of (or at least in league with) the alien anti-chaos cabal; and the Oroborous (which is the nature of the chaos creature they face at the end, and possibly has some wider significance for Chaos itself).

Overall, I'm just really happy that the quality of the HH series has been restored by this book. The previous DA book by Mitchell Scanlon was terribly written, with awful dialogue, cardboard characters, and not enough connection to the rest of the 40K story for an HH novel.

The last DA book took too long to get to the Emperor.

I dont think it was a Khorne reference really. The demon they faced seemed to be more of a nurgle kind of guy. Raising corpses and worm-like things isnt really a khorne trait.

Overall, I liked the book and devoured it in just a bout a day and a half. I love the DA fluff.
However, I was kind of disappointed that it seems to be all black and white now. Yes, Luther doesnt like the emperor, yes Johnson is loyal. It just seems too simple, considering all the speculations with the fallen and such. I dont know, maybe things will get twisted a bit more in the future. I would especially like some more cabal action concerning the DA´s. They did well with the Alpha Legion.

I really am of a firm belief that it was a Khorne related daemon...all the ref's towards the slaughter...and following how things escalate the more they kill etc etc...it's totally Khorne lol... oh and the 8's...it's all about the 8's :-)

Well, the escalation isnt really a khorne thing either. It is well known that powerful demons demand a huge sacrifice to attract their attention and free them from their eternal prisons or whatever. So no matter the chaos god, each demon has to be given a sacrifice. So youll need to kill plenty to get it done.

Khorne however, is not in the business of raising corpses that advance slowly while getting cut down. Hes all about the "get there fast and rip their heads of".....

Why put it in? Ourborous is also serpentine which isn't a particular feat of Khorne...it's more a feat of Slaanesh. That aside, perhaps it's just another revelation that the HH series is now disclosing, thus rendering all that we thought we knew, obsolete lol

Or perhaps it's something to do with the deciever, which Cypher fights many years down the line...it can appear as anything...

Yes - Needs another book
Yes- Needs to be written by the same author. He nailed it.
Yes- Now that things are black and white they need to be made grey again in the next book
Yes- redeemed the HH series

Not bad, perhaps 2 chapters on the homeworld and another 2 with the fleet instead of the constant jumping around.

and the IW at the end of the book cool.
