? Well, yeah. It is almost EXACTLY like an Eldar amish village. They see technology as luxurious and wrong, so they go primitive. BOWS and ARROWS primitive.
However I would bet that the High Elves in fantasy would kill to get thier hands on some of that tech now, or at least an AVATAR.
Also, I know you'll probably brush this off, but there was this kind of campaign showed in White Dwarf where Fantasy and 40k battles were united.
From what I heard, after weeks of campaigning, the Ultramrinz were fighting off a 'Nid horde outside a derelict Necron Pylon, (Slann Temple you could say) in order to buy Gortrek and Felix some time to stop the baddie (forget who he was) from kick-starting the pylon.
Let's just say 'Nids won big time. So the fantasy world might be little more than a barren husk now. LOL!

As I said, the two universes USED to be linked, then they hit it with a Retcon.

Retcon? Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyway, I'm talking fluff-wise. Gamewise, 40k would wipe out fantasy.

Yeah, I am talking Fluff wise too.
A RetCon is a Retroactive Continuity. It is where a Company goes "Woops, Ok that didn't happen".

perhaps warhammer is set in the dark age of technology is when humanity lost a lot of technology and lost warp travel and when aliens attacked the colonies. That could explain why they have so basic technology and its not mentioned in 40k since not many records where kept of this time.

Dark Age of Technology is actually mankind's scientific pinnacle. "The Dark Age of Technology was the zenith of mankind's scientific knowledge and technological power. Even millennia later mankind has not been able to equal or regain their former height of achievement. This age was long before the Age of the Imperium and knowledge of this time period is now incredibly sparse, and many "facts" about it are mere legend. " The Age of Strife is when Mankind lost their knowledge.

Perhaps, or perhaps it is in the present 40k universe, just that unlike other planets, it was never recovered in the great crusade.

maybe the old world was an attempt to fix history. maybe, some race (like eldar or summit) sees how 40k is only war, and therefore travel to anotyher galaxy, and they basically create a new world(teraforming etc etc) and populate it with races they deem worthy. then all you need, is chaos to find it, ork spores to land on it and sum other stuff too happen. makes sense too as orks evolved before humans i believe

Good scenario, but you wouldn't need to go to another galaxy to become reclusive. Their are plenty of habitable systems hidden in little nooks and crannies throughout the honeycomb of 40k.

No. The age of strife was a time on earth only IIRC if that is what you mean. It was the downfall of Humanity And they turned into savage beasts with guns fighting over scraps of civiliztion and food.

Yeah, and they would just throw away their advanced technology because.... "The old ways" had far more advanced Tech than humanity ever dreamed of.

There is one massive difference between elves and eldar; eldar blood crystalises whereas elf blood clots.

Don't forget Elves and Eldar are quite different. For instance Elves reproduce via sex, while Eldar do something completely different.

We know that eldar reproduce in an unknown staggered way. We also know that elves have sex to reproduce. Both these appear several times in the fluff.
