Yeah. The Old Ones had all this awesome science, technology, and near immortality, and yet they were still stupid enough to make the Young Races, screw up the Warp, AND lost the war!

That's because they lived in slow motion.

They'd never be able to survive outside the Warp. They'd need a human host that was strong enough to hold a dark god (IMPOSSIBLE), and they'd need to be constantly killing millions of people to survive outside the Warp. Unless another Eye of Terror was made, then I'd guess they could survive outside the Warp.

Chaos would win, but then what? Chaos need's the Imperium, it's safe to say most of humanity would be killed by the fighting.

Chaos will when in the long run the emperor wont last for ever but the death of the imperium will take down everything else in it's death throes

It really all depends. One of two outcomes will happen for the Emperor. He'll die and stay dead, or the Star Child conspiracy will happen and he'll be reborn to fight back Chaos.

Either way, the Imperium will die sooner or later. And when it dies, any remnants that survive will have nothing to lose and go all out on the xeno races and the newly ruling Chaos.

In short, everyone's screwed and Chaos is gonna have a very fun eternity afterwards
