That's an incredibly good point, right there....

I don't think they let them do that out of any sense of mutual cooperation or comradeship. They're just letting the monkeys see the shiny bits so they can go fight the spiky monkeys for them. If it lessens or removes risk to Eldar lives but still achieves a goal, they won't stop you or may even steer you into doing it. But they certainly aren't going to go out of their way to save or help you unless a Farseer says "HEY! Pick that up that guy over there about to get sacrificed by cultists. He's going to trip over a spanner that falls down a maintenance shaft and hit an open circuit on a plasma blastgun that a Titan engineer is working on, which will later get looted by invading orks. These orks will attempt to invade a maiden world/attack our craftworld/ call us bad names and because the circuit was damaged, when the Ork Warlord attempts to use the gun on his new Gargant it will explode and kill him, preventing him from invading. 40 years from now.".

It didn't work so well when Eldrad tried to do that with Fulgrim.

Not to anoy you at all but could you post me some of that story sounds interisting.

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!! 92% of teens have moved on to rap. If you are one of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your sig.

Resurrecting a thread after the discussion therein has finished.

I usually give it a month.

You could have the Eldar hiring some underworld merc crew to help them fight some unimportant enemy and reward them with highly desirable, and destructive, Xeno tech. After the "battle" they return back to their Hive World and continue with their business as usual, infecting millions of people at an exponential rate. Even better if they travel for jobs off world.

50 years later, an Eldar ship appears in system and the entire population suddenly dies within a week. Eldar retake a maiden world from the Humans they were attempting to convert from an agriworld to a hive complex.

If the Eldar had such great genetic engineering technology why would they not already have used it to get rid of Orks, Humans and Tyrannids?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Can't say I expected this thread to be brought back to life. I had already deleted it from my subscribed threads list, I only noticed it by pure chance. Oh well, no worries. Yeah, Halo, I'll PM you.

And that's a good point about the genetic engineering, Killkrazy. Come to think of it, I don't think that I've read much about the Eldar genetically engineering anything really.... Must not be a specialty of theirs.

This thread caught my attention by chance (clicked into the wrong forum) but if the story hasn't been written or finalized yet, I think there's a great dramatic possibility the nobody has suggested yet.

Because of the spirit stones, an Eldar item like a weapon might have some kind of residual personality. I think what would be interesting in a story is a human character trying to develop a relationship with the weapon, negotiating out agreements about when it's going to consent to fire for him and when it's going to fail him. Especially if the human is latently psychic, that the weapon actually can become an actor in the story.

Kind of like a buddy film, but where one of the buddies is a gun.

I actually thought of that for a while, but I ended up casting aside for a couple reasons:

1. I play a lot of DnD and read a lot of fantasy, and the whole intelligent weapon with an agenda thing is done quite a bit. I didn't feel like rehashing it here, although I will admit that the fact that the weapon would be a gun would add an interesting aspect to its personality.

2. Mikael (the main character) just isn't a psyker in any way, although he has a member of his mercenary army that fills that role.

So while it's a fantastic idea, it wouldn't work at the moment. Thanks for your suggestion, though! I always welcome any kind of suggestions. I might even use this one in a later story, actually.

There was a similar character in Inquisitor that did this sort of thing. An inquisitor used the soulstone from an Eldar Ranger in his helm that enhanced his warp senses and such. The spirit wasn't too fond of the arrangement.

I realize it doesn't make much sense, Killkrazy. But this is Warhammer 40k. We charge at eachother with chainsaws and pistols hoping to bludgeon the other army to death 38000 years in the future.
