You might want to go for a chemical orangy red for the squad markings... sort of like the colour of the lenses in the first picture in this tread, perhaps outlined with black.

I would be tempted to do the lens the same colour, perhaps with a metalic releftive quality. I don't know if it is possible, but you could try washing or drybrushing the lenses shining gold to do that.

I am loving the gaurd. They look fantastic. The camo is great. Hmm.. would it suit Tau vehicles?

Thanks guys! I've managed to get the detailing done on one squad. I'm going with blue lenses and plasma weaponry... still wiork to be done on the blue but everything else I'd say is done. Now to search for some suitable black decals for squad markings;

Wow that green is very soothing to look at , it makes the armor vest really stand out compared to the normal Cadian colors.

How easy is to to get the PigIron backpacks on? I'd been eyeing them for awhile and this thread has shown that they do look awesome indeed. I imagine it isn't much of an issue but it never hurts to ask.

Just snip the L shaped thing sticking out of the IG torso if you need a larger surface area for glue to stick to.

I love those minis - I am so stealing that camo for my witch hunter guard.

I've got to express my admiration for this army again; brilliant job!

I particularly like how the green acts as a contrasting colour, rather than fighting with the camo.

No, they are accessories from Pig Iron miniatures. They have a line similiar to IG and many of the extras packs work well with IG, such as variant heads and packs.

Sweet look, love the use of camouflage and those heads.

Just an update to show my impetus has not waned (although work is doing a bloody good job of sapping my energy).
I hope to have the Stormies, Penal Legion squad, 5 Ogryns and the Vindicare Assassin completed by Sunday evening;

Cadian XV: I have 9 Russ variants, 4 Chimeras and 2 Valkyries in the process of nearing completion ready to all be airbrushed in one sitting.

As a rule I generally stray away from more realistict uniform themes especially with desarts(i've been to way to many all over the world with the army), but I will profess im loving this gaurd army. The paint scheme is so simply yet so amazing. It was interesting you went with the choclate chip DCU's instead of the current ones(I miss those they were so comfortable), but it was a good choice. Made for some very striking models. Keep up the great work can't wait to see mroe.

The colour scheme is superb, looks ace both as individual models and as a whole force. Love your infantry squad in particular - you're using the same resin bases and pig iron bits that I do (great minds etc etc)!

CadianXV: I'll be doing three Vanquishers and some Chimeras next (just waiting for some spiffy looking resin turrets to arrive for the Chimeras). And the figure you refer to is indeed a commisar as spotted by Empchild.

Thanks again. I really didn't want to paint the Assassin black so decided to do him in the same camo. I'll be adding some camo netting to the sniper gun with some fine gauze once I've figured out how to do it. Hints and tips welcome.

Having been struck down with a devilish bout of flu on Saturday morning, my schedule had been thrown off track although I did manage to finish off a couple more squads (still have eyes and plasma weaponry to finish).
First up is my Penal Legion squad;



and enough squads for an infantry platoon. Just got to get me a HQ command squad and an Infantry Platoon command squad built up now. These guys will be riding in Chimeras backed up by some Heavy Weapon squads (again yet to be built :ermm: );

Work is progressing on the Ogryns and Stormies and hope to have them completed by the end of the week.

Your stormies look like the Norts (or was it the Suds) from Rogue Trooper, which is a great thing IMO. Nice use of Pig Iron. Excellent paint job. Very unique looking actually

mainly for the turrets (which will be my Chimera turrets), but I also thought I'd check out thier Ghecko Scout vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised by the casting quality and value for money. I should have got the Ghecko pickup version instead to "counts as" my sentinals with the simple addition of adding a missile launcher and gunner in the back. Anyway, here are some pics;
