Very cool, i would say the yellow is slightly to bright, and some chips or dull it a bit, apart from that i love them all

Thank you Logan, it's not that bright RL, it's been slightly brightened by photobucket, since the original pictures are always a bit too dark and require lightening.

It's meant to represent the bitz that the nob has ripped off Iron Warriors armour/vehicles and used for himself, so not that chipped or dark and will nicely contrast with what's going to be overall a fairly dark army (not using masses of yellow or red so as to differentiate Blood Axe from Evil Sunz or Bad Moonz).

You asked me to come and play quazar lazer battle with your mates and the guys over from the US, I'd been in the pub for the afternoon and so joined in with aplomb... Yes I trod on a couple of people and shouted at one till he got misty eyed, but that was all in the spirit of the game. Those lads had all be boasting about american football and how we were all whimps. The one chap I paid special attention to was the one who said 'We play for keeps buddy...' and I did remind him he was in rugby country when I trod on him and shot him repeatedly whilst bellowing and laughing at him.

There now, you have no power over me and shan't get your bazzer ork.

in other news... Desert Kamo Burna Boy! Skin tone hopefully improving a bit. Snot Green, then thraka wash, then snot again, then goblin then thraka wash, then goblin again with a little bit of goblin/bleached bone 50:50 highlighted.

Let me know! I'm quite pleased with the kamo on this fella.

The burna boy looks great, especially the very orange rust and the camo pattern. I'm slightly unsure whether or not I like the blue cables on his weapon though. I think it contrasts too much with the bright green orkskin. All the same, keep up the good work!

To quote the Channel 4 show, Peep Show: "I'm cancelling out of shame, like my subscription to White Dwarf"

Do you have the old inks?
with them you can get very convincing burnt metal for the burna tip.

Your camouflage is done really well. Once you get the skin to the same level these will be pure awesome!

Oshunai:
Thanks for the compliments, I use Grey_Death's rust method and the kamo came about from wanting to do different types, having enjoyed the woodland pattern on the Iron Warrior Nob's backpack. As for the hose, I'll be using different colours on the various burna boyz (I run a unit of 15) after finding this page:
http://www.par-group.co.uk/hose-ducting/Welding-Gas-Hose.aspx
I take your point about contrast, but it's an intentional aspect of the painting to not have a smooth combination of colours like you'd get with an Eldar aspect warrior or a Space Marine. This is orkz...

Sonofruss: No I don't, i have a fairly limited number of paints atm and building them up slowly (hence the burna back being done in tin bitz instead of the copper I'd have liked to have used and me having no blues other than the hawk turquoise I painted the burna hose with).

Arakasi: Thank you, I think (and hope it shows a bit) that there's been some improvement on those boyz I did end of last year, to the burna up now, I know only his arms are showing, but the skin tones are improving. I'm going to be reading up on blending next and trying to improve the dark to light on the skin. I am greatly enjoying the camo painting though, this one is supposed to be 'choc chip' but it's perhaps a little dark, using graveyard instead of bleached bone or vermin brown as the starting point.

A bit of converting today whilst watching tv. Decided to personalise one of the deffkoptaz a bit.

Gave it a circular saw from the Dred kit (using an inverted spare dred foot for the housing), a bit of plastic rod for the handlebar, with the brake carefully cut from the original and glued back on. Arm with slugga is from a nob (important note, kopta pilots are beefed up, ordinary boyz arms will be too small).

Looks awesome from the side - how do you find the front profile? (I think the AOBR Deffkoptas, although a vast improvement over the metal originals, tend to look very two dimensional from the front. This would be exaggerated by the extra length of the Buzzsaw on the front...) A little GS wrapped around the handle would make it perfect (or use a spare biker handle without a hand, or even cut a piece out of an unused axe rather than plain plasticard)

I'm already using the circular saw on mine, but I wouldn't have thought about using the inverted Dred foot housing - will definitely keep that it mind. The Ork pose looks quite laid back - until he's on the stand!

I like the slugga, and good job cutting that brake bar off. I agree with Arakasi about the font view of these koptas looks 2D, but some helicopters take advantage of that as a means of looking smaller (and farther away?) to their target... i think. Just be sure to give it a right sneaky paint job like da rest of dem boyz got!

Axe handle! Balls, i have loads of ork axes lying about. I'll remember that for next time, this one's been glued with liquid cement and it'd snap that break mechanism if I try and change that now. I'll paint or gs that handle but I'll use the axe handle next time.

Also, I think I like the 2d sleeker profile on deffkoptaz, reflects their scouting role and jetbiker style profile, like gyrocopter man from MadMax 2. I am planning something far beefier in the future, to have the 'chinork' profile that that abomination from forgeworld has, but built from a valk, or possibly a stormraven when I see what that model looks like.

I do like your missile fins btw Arakasi, looks smart.

So, painted up a nob whilst I rewatched the 1st season of BSG today. Used an interesting camo on his big choppa and... because these lads did so good carving up some ultramarine termies the other day... gave him a freehand ultramarine looted shoulder plate.

Let me know what you think! The skintones are feeling a lot smoother compared to those boyz on the first page.

I'm pondering taking a step up and giving a battlewagon a go soon.

Glad you like him, I'm going to add a termi head to the centre of the back banner when I get my hands on some, they seem to be rare as hen's teeth.

Might have a spare Terminator head once I get my stuff down from Manchester, depends if I go with the exposed head for the sergeant. That is if you've not sorted it out by then, god knows how long it'll be

Thanks chaps!

squilverine:
Well, I had given consideration to the colouring on the orks. My use of camos and dark colours precludes using darker tones imo. If I'd gone Evil Sunz or Bad Moonz and used huge blocks of bright colours, I'd have considered darker and possibly more 'natural' greens, but the subtler schemes I'm using mean I need something to stand out vividly on the minis and that's what I'm doing with the skin tones.

The eyes are a lil' bit creepy, MGS.

Otherwise, great job!

Ah, but the eyes are supposed to be scary, people seem to forget they're alien killing machines and reduce them to comic relief.

and those pupils of red on those piggy yellow eyes are a real pain to paint but that's just the effect I wanted.
