I hope you don't spend that on a single fig.

In last months white dwarf you could buy the limited edition fig as long as you had a subscription or starting one.
This may have been an attempt to move the older models. Only time will tell if you can get one without a new subscription.

Look at it this way. If the model sells bucketloads, they might bring squars back!

When you give the entire army lasgun pea shooters and flak armour when every other army is actually built to be competitive, (i.e. an armour save) it is small wonder that they didn't sell well. That was back at the dawn of primary colours. 2nd REDition. New fluff could bring them back.

Hahahaha... That fig is effing hilarious. Good to see that someone at GW can still get a decent sense of humor out through the corporate filtering.
But yeah, WD is mostly trash these days. IT's a shame- the market is totally theirs to lose. Even running fan-subbed articles would make it better, even if they're totally against Chapter Approved-style rules additions. Decent strategy articles, batreps that aren't totally fixed... not hard things to do. They underestimate the intelligence of their customers so badly that it's insulting.
Oh well. At least the painting articles are decent, and are something that's better in print (especially color rendering) than it could be in a fan mag on the intorwebs.
But seriously, WD needs help, like an editor with a pair of cohones and a nose for halfway-decent content.

It is true that if you already have an active White Dwarf magazine subscription you can purchase the WD subscriber's only limited model without a renewal. I checked with US Customer Service today and they verified this fact.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

How do you think the Squats died out in the first place ?? Sure, the spin says the Tyranid becasue that sounds better than "Beard Trauma"
Why doesn't GW put more effort into the "magazine" rather than offering some incentive ("consolation") miniature that doesn't even appeal to all the GW fans out there ??

White dwarf shouldn't even be called a magazine, it's a monthly product promo you have to pay for. Maybe the squat is an allegory to this.
