Are my marines not turtley enough for the Turtle Club?
Turrrrtle! turrrrtle! turrrrtle!
xD
An awesome suggestion, but alas. Its too humorous.
I sorta want to keep a little bit of seriousness in this (not too much, mind you!).
Wow... so Its a competition between Warp Turtles and the Desert Terrapins, eh?
wicked
Im gonna let the poll run for probably the rest of the night, and close it tomorrow morning. By then, we shall have our new Chapter!!!
Not to worry, Bale's Pride fans, for that name's definitely going onto another list
Orange and green can be a good color combination. I did my Emperor's Children in the same colors and they looks striking on the battle field. I'm sure your look just as good.
Nice work.

So.
After much meditation, consultation, and lunch, I come back to render the official results.
I have decided......
to....
completely throw out the democracy!
Yes, ladies and gents of Dakka, I've decided to throw the poll out the window, in favor of a newly suggested name.
So say hello to your new
Marines Chrysemys!!!!
Now before you run me out of town for doing this, or call exterminatus down upon me and my family, Ill say that I love how this name flows.
My Latin-speaking friend (well.... she took classes, but who speaks Latin?) believes it to be pronounced "Kry-Sem-Eez".
Thanks lord BoJangles for the suggestion!
And thanks everyone else for participating!!
I am really envious of the paint on the dreadnaught; I wish I could paint to that level. I like it, even if it is marine scum. :-)
Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do
Have you thought about doing something like the Indian philosophy where the world sits on the back of a 4 elephants who stand on the back of a giant turtle that flies through space...
It would definately make a cool banner idea
Also, the marine's homeworld could actually be on the back of a giant space turtle. It would definitely be random and weird.

I think Discworld or something has that too... *not sure* But GREAT idea for a banner!
@EzeKK: Alright. Totally my theme song now.

Perhaps, we shall see how it pops out

Hehe thanks! With me its either Marine scum or Greenskins (for now of course xD )

Busy busy busy lately with school and vacation over thanksgiving. That and Ive recently picked up reading Shinji and 40k an Evangelion/40k crossover fanfic (gah yes im that nerdy ><;;; ) Its a good read nonetheless, and I definitely recommend it!
Picked up more Orks. Marines have more than enough love for now Beginning the list of updates, the Sternguard!
They have a few more colors to finish, then they should be done. their guns are all being converted into combimeltas at the moment, so we'll see how that goes.
Then my newest acquisitions:
First, A Chaos rhino that is currently in the process of being purified and salvaged. I got it in a box of random chaos bitz and figures, so i figured why not. they're about the same. just need to fix it up in the name of the Emprah!
I tell ya. The kid who I got these from should just not be allowed nice things... Everything was sloppily assembled with superglue, and NONE OF THE PARTS WERE CLEANED!!!! Mold lines ran rampant, there was (and still is) some weird discoloration from something... i dont even know. Paint stripped off nicely though with SuperClean. (smells nice too!)
All in all, I suppose it all worked out ok... at least it looks a TON better than what it had been.
Another trade (from a new source) landed me a full-blown Land Raider Crusader! And all I have to do is paint the skin of 20 boyz xD
at least this kid knew how to put things together. few mold lines and clean glue work. it was almost tragic to strip it! But alas, it was DA, and I need it to be Chrysemys!
Got the turret done though!
other than that, Ive been busy at work with the rest of my models, including a gift for my kid brother.
Hes just startin Tau, so i figured Id paint somethin up real nice for him!
================= Ramos Asura Proudly Presents: THE SEARCH FOR ORANGE SPRAY PAINT! ==================
Yeah, so Im not painting the base for the tanks by hand... I need to find a color match to Macharius Solar Orange in a spray can.
I found Tamaya spray at my FLGS, and gave it a shot. My verdict: Tragic!
Way too strange of a paint- waaay thin, and runs on whatever you paint it on! Also, its a super high gloss. Not to mention its not really the right color for what I need -__-
Far too red!
And so- the hunt continues! Any suggestions?

Salamanders have BITZ!?!?
I must find some immediately! The only Salamanders model Ive ever seen is Vulkan. Are there more?
Yggdrasil wrote:Ok I wasn't following the thread when you went for a poll, but I agree with you: Marines Chrysemis rocks!!!!
The colour scheme's very nice, especially on the Sternguard!!!
Keep on posting some pics!
Appreciate it a ton Yggdrasil!
Ive been kicking around doing a very fine extreme highlight with drybrushing a light green on the DA green parts. Snot Green's far too light and doesnt drybrush well, Knarloc green is still too light... Im thinking I might have to do something uber-extreme and use Camo or Scorpion green.
Experiments to be completed...
In other news, I forgot to mention yesterday I got a pin vice!
So nice to actually have one now... problem is... I broke BOTH 1/32 bits that I bought with it in little more than an hour
*sigh*
Looks like I need to head back to the store already ><

Even as I paint my Orks, I think on how to paint the Land Raider and Rhino for my Chrysemys.
In looking through the internet, I've noticed that Rhinos and Land Raiders come from one of two camps. The first is from armies with a primary color, say Ultrasmurfs or Imperial Fists. Both tanks are painted a single base color, highlighted, and then have a little bit of a detail color.
The second camp are those like GreyDeath's Sons of Medusa, where there is a primary color, and a more prevalent accent that still seems to work exceptionally well.
There are naturally a few crossovers, but thats aside the point. What Im trying to figure out is How to paint the LRs and Rhinos. Do I paint them solid orange? Or do I follow a similar state of mind as the SoM, and use DA green in place of the black/gray and orange in place of the scorp green?
Im leaning to the latter, drawing on GreyDeath's Land Raider here.
Im not sure though. Is that too much green to orange?
Not to mention I still kicking around some form of freehanded mural type thing on the LR.... so.... sheesh... *returns to drawing board*

Some. Chapter House Studios has a fetish for them...
Wow its been a while, hasnt it?
Well, fear not, as I've returned thanks to the Marine Swap!!
This ones destined for Whalemusic360.
I'll add a few bits like purity seals to the mix in a bit, then backpack will pop on later. Im prolly gonna switch the head, as I like helmets on my marines.
At this point, updates are going to mostly be sporadic, and deal with the Marine swaps. Im planning to do these for the Hobby Jihad next year, so I guarantee many updates then!

And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!
