Thats the way I see it. This problem happens pretty much everytime an Ork player, plays a game. What exactly does the deff rolla effect. I just want a ruling.

Well I got almost 50 signatures in a 24 hour span. Not to shabby. Ive also made some ground on being able to post it on warseer and 40konline. (maybe someone really DID write an admin with what I suggested lol) Its not perfect on those sites, but at least they are allowing it somewhere, and thats better then nothing.
The hardest part so far tho, is getting people to, instead of argue about how impossible it is to get GW to do anything, but instead sign the petition and let their voiced be heard. I think if those guys/gals would just grasp that, a small chance is better then just complaining and doing nothing about it, is better then nothing.



Also I slept like a baby last night, first time in weeks. Hurray for me

They never make solid rulings (voting anyway, this question is always annoying).
The GW way is to ambiguously answer any ambiguous questions. Thus even their FAQs sometimes need FAQs, they won't get them but they'll need them

Unfortunately that's the likely answer, thats why we all need to email them the petition when it is completed.

I agree. Its also why I decided, screw this, instead of adding to a flame war, Ill try to do something about it. Its easily within our rights to have GamesWorkshop respond with an answer to the ruling.

OK update.


The signatures have slowed big time. Ive received only 3 signatures since last night. A big part of that is mainly because Im having trouble with 3 possibly 4 other online forums. A friendly mod at one of them tho gave me some good advice, and so on the problem sites, I have to make my thread, and then take PMs to give out the link and such. Kind of a hassle, but as long as the message gets out there I dont care.
If you guys would help out by telling your friends, gaming buddies, your wives/husbands, as long as we get the signatures I dont care (they cant be fake obviously) Im determined to get this petition filled and sent to GW lol. Somehow its turning into my own crusade. I just wish I had a bunch of hardcore Primarchs to shove it down peoples throats

Jervis won't answer it much, you'll probably get 2-3 pages that say: "When we are playing games with friends we shouldn't get too worked up about any problems in the rules and if you can't decide it is always good to roll off for it. Besides we play a game to have fun with friends".

Youve no idea. Im not one to bash others, never have been. Ive pretty much got the mucky stuff worked out with said websites except one. 40kOnline. These guy have stopped me at every turn and pass. Ive wrote the admin asking for their help, and how to go about getting my petition out there. Ive read their spam rules over a few times to make sure I wasnt breaking rules. STILL I get my posts erased and now threatened with being banned for it.
I figured a site, dedicated to a 40k type forum, would want to help someone out (at least by letting them leave a thread up) that has to do with fixing the damn game. Sorry for ranting, they just really pissed me off. According to them, youd swear Ive been stealing their mail or something.
Anywho, thanks again everyone. Keep it up and share away! We cant get anything done if we dont do anything

Which is why we should do my first idea, everyone who signs has to send it to them at least once.

If it happens enough they might finally fix it, if just to stop the bombardment of emails about this question.

We should just go force GW to sell the IP to another company that we know and trust... make them an offer they can't refuse.

A company that will keep selling all the models that are in the current rules (I've got 6 Leman Russ variations, and only two are actually sold, and this is just one example...). In plastic (Ogryns come in a squad minimum of 3, but are only sold in single metal packs, at 20+ dollars a pop. Who is going to be able to afford a squad of Ogryn at 60+ dollars just for the tiny base unit... idk). For reasonable prices. With rules that are consistent and fair.

OK basically, Im getting banned from Astronomican, as they think Im just joshing with them about my petition. Oh and because I havnt done enough for "the community" And Im sure you all read about 40konline.

So thats 2 down, and that sucks. There could be alot of people on those sites that WOULD sign otherwise. But what can I do?

We are up to just over 60. So somehow over night I got 10 signatures (hurray!)



And yea we COULD go on for a good 10 pages about what GW should do. Its pretty much a give. But to get them to change that drastically, someone would have to buy the company and just CHANGE them themselves. I like to start small. Its the only real way to get things done. I think if I get an Al Sharpton type of rep, but in a good way, not a "oh god its Al Sharpton" way. Then we could get things done.
All we need to do is to start showing GW that we are serious. Calling them one at a time every now and then, or giving them a random email of "HEY WHAT THE HELL!" wont do anything. BUT if we give them a petition with 500 names on it and say ok here something simple. They should do it.
Obviously if this works well enough, Im thinking of doing it again on something else. But I wont just stop. We all pay ALOT of money to play this game, and dammit I want something more out of it then broken rules and uber builds.

Dude, I will make sure nothing happens to you on Astro (I be a mod there). The mod that's giving you trouble is new and not really good at judging spamming/promoting a cause though, to be honest, your methods were a bit crude :p

I PMd you there explaining why you're getting such a negative reaction, but the best way to promote something like that on our forum is to, say, start a rules thread about it explaining your point of view and then saying something passive like "if you're interested, there is a link in my sig to a petition if you think GW should address this in an FAQ". Something like that, but be more creative because I certainly ain't! Another key to getting something across there is starting an introductory thread and just saying some stuff about yourself. Astro is, compared to places like Dakka, a small forum. The community is also very close-knit. If you want an in, tell them about yourself and it's a golden pass to a lot of things. Very odd, but it's just the way it works I guess. But I suggest you read that PM I sent you for a little more insight

BTW, I'm signing the petition. Just be a bit more subtle on Astro, maybe make a apology (even if it's disingenuous) and you may be able to get some more outta them.

Personally I like the idea of an annual update. They can collect all the questions that get emailed to them over the course of the year, sit down over the Christmas holidays and knock out a big FAQ. Done for another year.

Im with ya Gwar. I know there are ALOT of issues with the rules and such for 40k. Im sure you know that more then most, since I think you take the title of most hardcore rules lawyering in the world (and I mean that in a mostly good way)
But the way I see it, is it literally would be a waste of time to send GW a petition about that. We would basically be saying "hey you guys cant/dont know how to run your company" And Im sure they wouldnt like that.
So if we all get together on one single issue, they are more likely to go for it. If this one goes well, I was thinking of starting a poll on what the next logical step should be, as far as what to petition for next. You dont have to sign the petition, and believe me its in no way intended for trolling, but your signature really would help out

I suppose some do feel it is spam and utterly boring and pointless. I do (no offence intended, I just do).

And do you think they are right to lock it, because some people might find it boring? I find almost all the threads in YMDC boring, but I wouldn't want any of them locked.

I would hazard a guess that it is for the focused and singular nature of the query.

If this is an acceptable post, then suddenly it means that everyone else with confusion about a rule can/should make a thread to petition GW for a ruling - to their one single problem.

This could get . . . odd, especially once some of the more . . . obtuse folks start petitioning for GW to answer questions that are answered to everyone ELSES satisfaction.

I am guessing though.

I don't see anything wrong with community pressure on GW to get up off their lazy asses and clarrify their rules.

I'd personally like them to right some definition of deployment. No beasts cannot move above ground level during a game but they can start there. Impassable terrain? Fine i can't move through it BUT i will start there.

Most of these things are common sense things but it would be nice to include a basic list...

When Deploying units place them on the board as if they had just moved there. (covers impassable terrain, unit coherency and beast/calvalry/bike being on the wrong floor of a building)

Units may start inside transports and buildings so long as they are fully within the deployment zone. IC may be joined to units before deployment so as to allow special deployment rules to be used with the group. (solves shrikes infiltrating unit problem)

Which is what I said earlier.

I have a list of clarifications and common misconceptions I bring up with folks before gaming.
In addition to the GW and INAT FAQs.

Most/all of those would be nice as well. At least INAT covers deff rollas.

I also think that would be a waste of time. I think GW should make FAQs in general more often. Not just about issues I personally believe/have stake in.
