I would say you are almost 100% correct on that statement Ironhide. I've been there myself trying to paint and swap stuff as a business. It sucks without a solid battle plan.

Also, in an ironic twist on something you threatened to do previously, I'm going to make another promise.
If the package is not signed for, it will be returned to me. If it is returned to me, I will set out everything that is in the box of import and burn it. I will watch it go up in flames.
The video that I shoot of it will be posted to YouTube. I will email you a link, as well as post links to it in open forums.

Sorry if this is technically off-topic, but I'm trying to clear up any inaccuracies or confusion...

Are the most recent posts by porkuslime, redstarone, roguemarket and myself (excluding this one) considered OFF topic?
None of our most recent posts are, technically, within the boundaries (emphasized above in red by me) but are all geared towards trying to help get in contact with him or find some way of rectifying the situation.

Clarification, please?
I want to help, but I don't want to step on your toes by doing it. If porkuslime and I are overstepping our bounds by trying to help in this manner, I will gladly stop posting in the thread and focus my efforts solely towards assisting Bartertown members with Hulksmash issues that were initiated on Bartertown.

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

@Eric,

Sorry for the confusion. While technically off-topic, those posts have been helpful in positive ways (ie, processing info about the said user or making suggestions as to what steps to take). In this regard, the assistance of the aforementioned posters could sort of be considered to fall under the "Other users who have had experience with either of the users".

Effectively, we don't really mind people posting if they're actually helping things get resolved. We mostly want to curtail posts that incite "witch-hunts", so-to-speak, which have a tendency to be sparked by uninvolved parties.

That being said, I'm grateful that you and others are providing your aid to this TR as the SwapMods' own resources and capabilities in resolving this TR are quite limited. I'm sure those involved are quite grateful as well.

Cheers,
Jin

Nope.
Sorry.

Part of the agreement we have with them is that we will not release their non-public contact information (phone # & address) to anyone, short of a legal requirement (subpohoena, etc).
Nobody outside of Bartertown Administrators are allowed to access it.
That is why I'm making the calls, rather than giving out the number.

We do NOT have the same agreement regarding email addresses, however.
I'd have posted his, except that it's already public knowlede.

Um.... simple fact. Anyone that has mailed him something can use the address to get the phone number. I have his address, and have called. Ive left voicemails just like Eric over the last 4 days. *edit* I, like Eric, didnt accuse him of anything but simply said I was worried.

As for the local PD... no, they will not care if you have a phone number or not. They will simply drive to the address. That said, lets give it more time people. I know its hard but he simply may not be able to keep in contact.

I hope none of this falls "off topic".

Yes Iron, thats what I was going to do. I had and have ZERO intention to post it publicly. Its something though I feel the victims should have. And something people with big noses should not have haha.

Since gathering up info from the victims. he has at least 8 peoples things. and I keep getting PMs and emails from new clients. Seems im not the only one to have lost stuff. (please this isnt turning into a witch hunt. Im just amazed by how many peoples things he has.)

Now once again im not saying he scammed anyone. He could be in a coma or something, or g-d forbid dead. I hope all is well and im pretty sure at the very least we can get back most if not all of everyones stuff.

My own personal opinion is he got swamped with commissions, the real life kicked in and he hasnt been able to get to painting. Combine that with maybe not net and that would make him MIA.

I'd also like to take the time to once again thank MagickalMemories for everything he has done and I'd also like to thank redstarone especially for everything he has done and continues to do. Fact is:

1. You are not the only victim. You are one of 8? (Dont know exactly)

2. You are waiting for 2 months. Not sure why action took long to initiate. Its long! Your stuff is gone man!

3. His site is down, hosting not paid for - thus something is 'interesting' happening.

4. Whether he has personal stuff happening, you should pursue. It will bring a 'call to action'. Whether from him, or his estate. Hopefully.

While I agree 2 months is a long time... things can happen. People how know me can understand sometimes things are unavoidable.

As for action... thats what we are all gathering up to do. Police dont care about 1 victim. They only go after someone that has hit multiple people.

Again, im starting to think hes hurt or something. Me calling, Eric calling, emails form all his clients. Seems a bit more likely he cant reply then he refuses to reply.

Just my 2 cents.

Honestly? My first reaction when I went about a month without hearing from him was "eff this guy, I want my stuff", but he told me earlier that his wife was having health problems, and with some currently going on my family, I can sympathize with having to put everything on the back burner for loved ones.

At this point, if he were to email me tomorrow and say "oh man, I effed up, your stuff will be in your hands by the end of November", and it actually arrived, I would still be happy. The stuff he is painting isn't something I NEED for my army (it was just power fist marines, a few tacticals to beef up squads and a rhino) so maybe that's why I am hesitant to report him to authorities. I know that there's a fair bit of money involved here, but that isn't the issue for me, the issue is that he's done two commissions for me with no problems whatsoever and for him to just flat out fall off the face of the earth is incredibly disrespectful in my books.

Another problem is that if he DOES reappear, and I've gone to someone else to get this stuff painted, I will be plus one rhino and six powerfist marines, which sucks for me.

I hate that I've actually lost sleep over this, but I just want my little toy men painted so that I can play with them and go "pewpew!" like I had originally planned.

This really isn't a bad idea.
We recently had an... issue... on BTown where the police (in WA) got involved and got the trader his $100 returned.
Calling the police to HELP you could be beneficial at this point. If he just gets a visit to his door, it could be the memory jar he'll need to contact someone. It could be that something really is wrong and, as we said, he's focused 100% on it... or maybe he CAN'T focus on it.
Either way, he or his wife could use that as a reminder that "Hey. I've gotta take care of this." Even if it's only to email an apology with (or without) a brief explanation and some idea as to whet's going on.

Hope this helps.

Eric

Eric does make a few good points but in this case I tend to disagree.

There are other ways to see if hes hurt or ok then calling the cops on him. Frankly 2 months is a long time but he had completed deals with Bunker.. like bunker has said a few times now, he wants to see if this can be resolved.

There are ways to solve this legally without having cops involved just yet.

And to be blunt... cops wont go to his house for "stealing" models. Unless all the victims go at once to file a claim. Which is why im gathering up all the victims info. I have methods to solve this. *EDIT* legal ones

Remember when you threatened me that, if I sent you anything, you'd burn it and send me a link to the video, Matthew? Well, this way, you'll get what you want (burned models), regardless - MagickalMemories

There was a time I'd have agreed 100% there... and that time was last week.
Just this week, we had the cops visit someone over $100 cash, after they were reported as a Bad Trader and the person doing the reporting called the local PD for the accused.
Cash is the same as goods in the eyes of the law, really... so, I believe there ARE PD's out there who will... now, I'm not saying they're exactly COMMON... but I have had my faith in the restored on this.

Well, first let me say then I revise my statement to most cops wont care. I was un aware of the events you mentions and frankly, im very happy to hear it. That does indeed give me some hope.

As for how common it is... its not. I just base my own personal experiences with the law and being ripped off, making a report, only to be told its to small of an amount. I also base some of my opinion on the various places ive lived, large cities (2+ million people) where generally there, cops dont care about anything unless its a crime in progress. Sure they will file a report, but unless there are a number of reports from various people, they wont act. Not because they are bad cops, but because a rape is more important then missing models or a lost 200 bucks.

That said, its the postal police from the usps that people should contact with having problems after non communication for so long. Please note im not refering to hulk here, just in general. The postal police are federal police and they do not play around with any sort of postal fraud.

I'm stuck hoping that someone from here is able to get into contact with him off of Dakka.

So again, if anyone knows him outside this website, please let him know that if I haven't heard from him by December 21st with either a set-in-stone timeframe for getting my stuff painted or a full refund for my miniatures and the depoist I've already given him, I am going to be filing mail fraud charges against him with the USPS and contacting his local authorities. Thanks again for looking.

Situation update:

I just emailed Brad again to let him know about his December 21st deadline, and I have been contacted by a member who claims to see him occasionally at his local Bunker for games nights and who has promised to let him know to contact me asap.

Alrighty - sorry this took a late response - especially to initiate for help to you - been busy!

I have two plans, and they have worked in the past, mostly.
That hasn't been done yet for you - and so i'm down to help.

Though not full proof (nothing ever is)- but it is a step further to possibly help you out and not leave you in the cold.
We were able to succesffully recover a ton of items from some NY scammers.

It will for sure, verify the status of Brad.

But not taking it to the step of calling the cops yet.

Will drop you a PM.
