Yup. I used to do it with computer games at the local E-Play when I was about 15.

A couple of times when I was a kid (you know, a smaller kid, most here would see me as a kid as is anyway).
I sometimes do it with books in the library too. Hide them under the seats on the couch.

Yes, more so when I was younger, but I'd hide them in another section of toys nearby, usually the stuff that wasn't popular at the time. Or another good place, was behind the big boxed toys on the bottom shelf.

These days sadly the few times I manage to get to those kinda stores, means I either get it then, or don't worry about it as it will likely be months before I return. Hehe.

At my LGS I have currently stashed the last of an OOP special character behind a bunch of blisters for another game. I don't know where they got that ancient thing, but its still there and still priced like it was waaay back when it was new. My game shop always stands by it's sticker price. At the same location there is a blister with I believe 3 models in it that's also priced at less than half it's current price. Neither of them is something that was ever normally stocked by the store. Next time I have a spare 20 I'm talking in and picking up both. There's a few more jaw-droppingly cheap old blisters too (SW/DE) that I may pick up. I'd give more info but people I know read here and I totally call those minis. I check on them every time I'm at the shop when no one's looking at me.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

I usually pick it up, walk around with the product, I'll leave it where I found it, come back a week later and see if it's there.

If it is.. I'll get it.
If not, I keep my money in my wallet.

Works for me as a win/win situation.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Yea. And it works very well, I think I save more money NOT buying useless crap after I think about it.

I generally forget about important stuff to pay for............like rent. /cry.

I should do that with magic packs and make a complete deck out of fate.

Funny story.

I was at a Best Buy, browsing through their games, when all of a sudden as I picked up a copy of Fallout 3, I saw something hidden underneath the shelves.

A copy of Gears of War met my gaze (The first Gears of War, mind you). I immediately hid it back, supposing that someone would buy it.

I came back 3 days later, and it was still there. I'm wondering if someone forgot.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.
