Agree to disagree friend, no hard feelings At least we agree with harsh highlight
As for the "school bus" it looks good man. That is one BRIGHT yellow, you do wonders with the wash and such to tone down the neon-ness of the color lol. Cant wait to see more!

Here's two photos of the nearly-completed Razorback. No battle damage on this one, just a lot of weathering. I tried to use some additional techniques.
More details for those interested.
Also, my tests show both India Ink and Micron pen ink holding up under GW Purity Seal. So I'm trying those methods instead of super-detail brushes for black checks.

The graphite pencil technique looks awesome. I used it on a LR once and found it useful too.

I have to agree with Ph34ry, black lining would make these guys look even better. Also, if you use a micro pen like he suggested, you can use that to outline the checker pattern for things like the tanks or even the shoulder pads. That way, you don't have to rely on just really good brush control to get good looking checker patterns.

Positives:
1. You're a braver man than I am, free handing checker boards.
2. The yellow on your tanks are very smooth. That is a hard color to get as nice and tidy as you have done. Good for you!
3. I like the over-all effect of the weathering on those first 2 rhinos. Indeed, when you step back and look at them, your troops and rhinos are very nice and go together well. You should be proud of your work, and I thank you for sharing.
Areas for improvement:
1. On closer inspection, they start to lose it for me. If you are going to do checkerboard, your lines need to be straighter. I have no idea how to do that other than to say "Practice, practice, practice". Hopefully others can help there.
2. Brush Strokes on the front of your rhino "Pilum".
3. Dark yellow brush strokes around the door of "Lament".
4. Pebbles on the sides of your bases. Maybe you like that look, though. If so, then keep them. But it only takes a second to knock those off while the glue is dry.
Thank you again for posting these! Overall, I really like the look of your army and hope to see more!
Edit: I just saw your post from 12/9. That rhino looks excellent, my man. The weathering is nice, and the squares are looking better. Keep it up.

If you can clean up the checkers and make them even then I think your onto something their. Best way take some form of measurment line it up and then to lines down it. Create a well checker board and then color in the boxes starting from the top. Try using a paint pen you can buy at micheals.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Amazing work!
Just an advice, maybe it's because of the camera flash but those checkers (Razorback) look a bit too bright to me... You should try weathering them too or just do a badab black wash...
But maybe it's just me!
Bye..
