Two Jobs in the gaurd actually. During the week I am whats called a technician it is a full time employee for the national gaurd. The difference between techs and active gaurd is I am paid hourly and can quite any time where as full times are signed into their contracts. The only catch to being a tech is you have to be i the National Gaurd and my gaurd Company is Signal. So I do that 1 weekend a month, and spend about a month in the summer doing training. So during the week I am the states ammunition manager(though right now i've been boarding for higher positions) but when I go to drill I work with satelitte uplink and downlink communications. All of it rather makes me miss my active duty days. The Infantry was so much simpler, go here shoot this kill them. It's a little confusing, so I hope that clears it up, but good looking out albatross

Hence we get British and American born terrorists. I think you add all of that up and its fair to say that they arent half as daft as people like to think, and will have equipment and tech support from all over the place.
I doubt they would be able to do anything that would massively affect our operations (arent they awesome btw? Radio controlled death? ) but still.. we need to sort this gak out.
Quite so old chap as no matter how you slice the pie this is bad stuff. Militarys now adays go to great lengths to keep all data secure, as now adays we have more channels to attack from. Digital attacks are more dangerous now adays then actual physical.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Isn't this situation what happened with Bin Laden? We were listening in on his satphone calls, until some schmuck let it slip to a reporter and then it was all over the news within an hour--end result being Bin Laden ditching the satphone and moving to harder to track calls.
I might be remembering it wrong though.

The drones arent military grade encrypted so they can be compitable with normal satelites not militery ones.

common misconception as the military doesn't have it's own satellites but more operates off of ones from Def. companies. Public info just look up Linquest as those are waht I work with personally.

It's worse than you remember. We got his number (so we could listen in) with Himint, and they got burned when Clinton went and talked about it on national TV.

As usual SHUMA the almighty is here to try and discredit me, shuma I honestly care less what you think, but signal is my field believe what you want. Army UHF, and EHF's are for better lack of a term mmmm stupid. The military takes something tht in the normal world would be cheap and effective, and twists it. Don't believe me ask any service member. OO and shuma on matters of military equip just don't chime in please. All you are trying to do is start an arguement to which their really is no point. Im sure you'll put something negative from all this and good for you glad you do honestly, but for once I am not going to respond to you after this.
What does that have to do with you flying off the handle after misreading an article? Quit the discussion all you want, but it's not my fault you decide to flex your military ePeen and declare doomsday because they figured out how to hook up a satellite broadband card to their laptop and install Skygrabber http://www.skygrabber.com/en/skygrabber.php (hint, you could do it from home too if you lived near the pilots seat). As for military equipment? Yeah, I'm sure you work on predators in the guard all the time. It sure is great that you can somehow act like an expert in the field of air-force satellite communications now.
