Thanks for all the input everyone.
This is all just 'market research' so to speak. I anticipated most of the responses to be about cost effectiveness and yes, that would be the hard-sell right there. These would be heavier than coins or washers, but 1000x more convenient and would not alter the hight of the model. It's the convenience that would make them expensive. I could do solid metal bases with optional magnet inserts, but those would be really expensive.

I would be more interested in weighted texture plates for on top of the base than in anything to fill in underneath... as filling in the bottom of the base makes them not stand as well on uneven surfaces.

In all honesty I do not see this taking off, nor a profitable business venture for yourself.
There isn't a 'need' for weighted bases. Unless, you are a super marketting guru, and you super exagerate the issues to create a problem, and have your product be the solution. heheh.
Nah but just honestly, a nickel, isn't any much inconvenience. Just takes a dab of glue and slap on. It'll make the models weigh a ton more.

I understand the grip issue completely. I toyed with idea of a thin, rubber layer on the very bottom to compensate. As for the 'textured' plates to put on the top... I like it, but there's no easy way to accomplish it without driving the price up dramatically.
@ RogueMarket - I'm not trying to get rich off this idea or even try and turn it into a business. It's more so an idea I had to suit a need of my own, but thought to maybe make a few dollars of it. It's only cost effective to make them in large production run. I surely will not use all of them and it's not worth my effort if I can't sell the rest.

I would like heavy metal bitz that fit between my slotta bases, as I have many a model that are at weird weight distributions.
Also: Taking coins out of circulation via the destruction of them is illegal. Or any destruction of government property (including, but not limited to: burning money, gluing coins to hobby projects, flattening those pennies on rail road tracks)

For the record, my previous post was a (failed) attempt at sarcasm, although I stand by the statement that you shouldnt be using legal tender as weights fo your minis, and that it would be far more cost effective to just go out and buy some washers.

What I'm envisioning is weights that nerely fill the plinth, therefore weighing the miniature down as much as possible. Is this what you're planning? Because I'd buy them in small numbers, for showcase models and models that are severely off balance (too much for a coin or washer to solve the problem). You wouldn't sell many but if you did this they'd be speciality items for a specific job, and you could probably sell them for a few bucks each. This'd be a better approach, IMO, than trying to sell weights for standard models, as an alternative to washers etc.

Would you be interested in purchasing specially made base weights that fit nicely into the recess of the standard GW base and how much would you be willing to pay for said product? (Example: Pack of 10 weights for round, slotted, 28mm basses = $7.50 USD)
No, not really.
At the moment, all my new miniatures get bases from

Young sir, kindly turn your internet in to the proper authorities, you don't deserve it.
Let's check out the "sarcasm-o-meter".
Looks like your sarcasm meter failed in detecting the sarcasm.
Nice try. Maybe you should take a break, sit in a corner, and think about what you've just done.
