If you believe he moved your squad that is a huge cheat. I would avoid playing him in the future.

I've dealt with my share of cheats, a Nid player was using his warrior squads with deathspitters and was rolling the scatter die at BS 4, when I rolled dice would point out that several dice I knocked into and before were misses when clearly they weren't, hell even went as far as when moving models would move them several extra inches as per measuring to the distance first then taking the model and putting it in the middle of the selected point, not from base edge to base edge. After the game several friends pointed out his maneuvers and I told them I caught on right away but I wanted the satisfaction of crushing him even with his cheating.

Later on at a tournament the judges saw his same things and he got the justice he deserved, auto loss and ban from next tourney.

If you have the money for an army, you have the money for a rulebook.

Ahh... the economy has gone into the crapper recently. It is quite possible that someone purchased an army in better days, and now can no longer afford new stuff.

Speaking as someone who has been unemployed during most of the time of the time since 5th was released, it is kind of hard to imagine someone who is dedicated enough to have collected an army and continued to play the game and yet has not at least had the time to borrow a friend's copy of 5th and familiarize themselves with the new rule set.

You don't get retinues in DoW? How so? What do they count as then?

Um, if you're playing Dawn of War, and you are referring to the DoW setup rules, someone must have a 5ed Rulebook.

Dawn of War setup wasn't in 4th...

I have to say that if you think someone is cheating you then you need to stop playing them. But you have a responsibility to have the rules. So frankly I would say that you are both wrong at this point.

You most certainly get to deploy a character + his retinue as a single HQ unit in the Dawn of War deployment.
The problem here is that the Nobz cannot count as a Retinue. It simply isn't an option anymore.

Just walk away laughing, if its that important to him to feel good about himself by cheating to win a game of essentially "toy soldiers" then realy, just feel good in yourself for making his sad life a little brighter!

It's not life or death.

I have tried to teach my kids that if you enjoy yourself you both win, even if you only end up by playing half the rules right and winging the other half!

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

Good on you for ending the game BTW.

DoW is my least favorite deployment (read: I really dislike DoW... ), and I almost always have to refer to the RB to check on something while deploying. Having the RB, or at least having access to it while gaming, is essential to avoid disputes like this. I can understand why someone would not have memorized every single rule, backwards and forwards, not exactly uncommon even amongst experienced players.

The TFG you were playing was obviously trying to cheat you at a game of toy soldier shoot-em up time. Let him find other people to play with.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Seriously, why are you still playing with this guy? Just talk to him, call him out calmly, then tell everyone in the store to watch out for that. If he doesn't change, he becomes an outcast. It's not mean when he brings it upon himself, and only proper peer pressure can change him.

If you let him get away with it just so you can get a game on, he brings down your gaming community far more than his presence as a possible opponent adds to it. What's more, he can drive away potential new players with his actions.
