There is only one I would like to go with me. It is a single imperial guardsman. It is the best model I have every made. Simple and elegant in his posing. It is such an epic model I would love to be dug up by future historians and have them wonder what the social importance of the figure means.

I wont need to worry. By the time I die, I'll have invented the 'Growth Ray' and the 'Come-a-live-a-ray'. I'll have my real life techpriest build me a golden toilet that I can sit on for all eternity.

That, or I'd give them away to Family or Friends or eBay.

My cousin and I started Playing 40k together. We went halves on the 3rd edition Starter set w/ SM and DE. He Liked the SM, I liked the DE. It was a blast cause like every week we'd get together to play and we'd always bring out a new unit we'd put together that week.

He eventually started a Chaos Word Bearer's army after their re-vamp late 3rd early 4th while he was away w/ the US Army on a mission to Kosovo. Sadly just before his return home he was diagnosed w/ a brain tumor.

He continued to play, paint, model and fight the cancer til he could do so no longer. He put the models away and began selling off everything that would never be worked on. So after about 4 years the cancer took him. He had moved back in with his mother since he had been unable to meet the physical/emotional demands of living alone. When I heard she wanted to let the family pick things from his belongings my only request was his 40k and assorted models.

I still can't open the cases holding his SM army without getting seriously emotional...

I would imagine that most of my stuff would be given away by my wife to my only local gaming buddy. Anything leftover would be eBayed. Not sure if she'd keep any of them, since I don't think she has much of a clue as to which ones I value, and none of them mean a lick to her (exepting that she knows that I enjoy painting immensely).

I think I'll discuss this very topic with my wife this evening! It'll be interesting to hear her response.

Well, when I die I am hoping to get a funeral mound on the family farm. (Which I will probably inherit anyways seeing as the rest of my siblings detest farming.) So Im going to get a big burial mound with a couple of chambers for all of my stuff. Above my sarcophagus will be a circle of shelves, upon those shelves my minis will wait until the resurrection, guarding my body until they are called upon again to wage war.

Seriously, Im doin that gak.

Well I don't know about when I die, but strangely enough when I worked at a county dump, we would get tons of warhammer.

I'm guessing that during my time there a few gamers had either had exes throw out their stuff or they just got fed up.

Though one time I did find out that a gamer in question had passed on, he was a middle aged gentleman and I found several painted fantasy figures as well as a leman russ BT and Abaddon the Despoiler, as well as other artifacts from his walk of life. I talked briefly to the person throwing it out and they said his ex wife didn't bother to keep anything for their son, and just tossed it away. So his friend was charged with disposing the rest.

Really a tragic state of things, I can only imagine when I find things like this in my line of work I have to wonder why.

One time I found a huge duffel bag full of codexes, and some BL books including the Killing Ground UM novel, a almost complete black reach set and some sprues of old fantasy orks and leman russ track guards.

Trash becomes treasure eh?

I have some options, leave it to my kid or leave it to my wife (who will trash it all with a hammer because of the time I spended sculpting)... Since Greenstuff resists some vulcanizations temperatures I dont want to be ashes inside a jar full of GS models.

My models will probably go to my brother, or any children I have which are interested in wargames.

If I died now, I guess the wife would keep some and get rid of the rest which I'm happy for her to do.

What a strangely morbid thread.

This.

I have some minis that are already older than I am. My widow and three girlfriends can split the profits. I already promised my Battletech minis to a buddy.

When I die, my playable models and the conversions that my friends/family(?) will want will probably be grab-bagged. The rest will go where all other orphaned mini's go... www.ebay.com

Interesting thought. I don't have alot of metal models that will be worth anything someday, so they likely won't be worth much. My wife is not at all interested in gaming, so in order of priority:

1)Assuming I have interested children or grandchildren or other relatins, they will get them.

2) If no relations, and I have at that time a gaming group or good friends who game, they will get them.

3) Otherwise, I'll probably ask that my wife give them to a FLGS, or game club.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

Well, if you have alot of the old rogue trader minis you could put it in your will that if you died before the world ends that your family must keep them to get any of your money. This is so when the zombie start to close in they can melt down the minis to make bullets in order to protect themselves.

Movie Montage Time

(Zombies shuffling up the road to the border up house. A family worries inside.)

Daughter: What are we going to do! We are out of bullets!
Son: How about all those old toys dad willed to us. They're lead!
Mom: Great thinking!

(Que up 80s montage pop music.)

BANG!
A zombie's head blows up.
BANG!
Another zombie is dropped to the ground.

Mom: Thank you honey! You were such a great provider...

BANG!

Yeah, you're right. I've had no problem using the Word Bearer's he made. I finished up several units that were started and needed to be fleshed out. It's a real joy when I get to play against some of the guys my cousin played against and they go...'I've seen this army before..' It's nice to let them know about my cousin and its a good way to keep his memory alive.
