So could you provide example army lists for DA and CSM you feel are top tier?

If you are advocating CSM and DA are weaker than the other codices then this indicates it might be worth the effort to balance the playing field.

Sorry, I did not see your question the first time.

CSM and DA are both capable of putting out a top tier competitive list. You are just more limited with the options you can take. There are always going to be fluctuating power levels between the top lists and nothing will ever be 100% balanced.

However they are all close enough that they can bring something that could potentially win any given game provide they have a quality general.

Hope that clears up my opinion.

On a final note, does it suck that stuff like CSM only get 1-2 competitive builds and you can't use all the "fun" stuff? Sure. But at the moment there really are only about 3 codices like this, so why punish everyone when only a 5 people at a tournament might show up with these?

Besides, its a tournament, you should be bringing the most competitive stuff, not a fluff list. I break out all the fun Tau gear in apoc or casual games but when I go to a tournament, I bring my best list.

How dare you mock my hard work sir!
This comp system took me almost 3 minutes to create.

Sure GBF

Chaos:
Dual Lash
Dreadzilla

DA:
Full mech w/sammael on his landspeeder (note you can varient the troops from tact marines to bikers or termies to give you 3 different lists)
Full Mech+Techmarines

I am betting you can find all those lists on your own so I won't write them out for you.

Hmmm over YTTH the general consensus is dual lash is midtier at best. Full mech means nothing... either you are lying or don't have a clue.

If you can wait 45 mins for me to get home from work I will happily post links to them.

Lash isn't amazing but it can compete if built properly. 9 oblits is still pretty awesome.
Besides, since when do you listen to YTTH?

Hey Tim I can help simplify your comp system:

Is your armylist legal? Yes: 5 points No: - 50 points

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I think it still needs some refinement.

In all honesty I wouldnt call any of those top tier, mid tier yes. However, not to piss Steve off but he should look at the WC forums for a top tier list for DA

http://40kwreckingcrew.aceboard.com/331128-5782-3051-0-.htm

And that same general of the DA has a top tier Chaos list.

Sometimes top tier is more than the list on paper but how the tactics are supposed to work.

I like Kenny's list but will note it does not fall under the heading of Timmah's brief descriptions. Neither Kenny's DA or CSM lists are typical.

I didn't say top tier for the record. I said viably competitive. And all those lists linked are viable.

And holy crap, I would take any of the ones on YTTH over that wrecking crew one. Regular land raiders are a waste of points.

If your going to be playing DA, you want to make sure you do what you do better than marines. Which usually means sammael on his speeder.

And how are they not typical?
I said that if you played CSM or DA you would need to stick to 1-2 very specific lists to be competitive.

The landraider is one unit that helps to make DH somewhat viable. You must be daft.

DH maybe, not DA.

But, I'm pretty sure allied guard platoons make DH viable.

Anyways, on to the system.

Did the opponent take between 1-2 HQ choices +1
Did the opponent take between 0-3 Elite choices +1
Did the opponent take between 2-6 Troops choices +1
Did the opponent take between 0-3 Fast Attack choices +1
Did the opponent take between 0-3 Heavy support choices +1

Armies must score a total of 5 points to be allowed in any event using this comp system.

Suggestion? Or let me know what you think of it.

I get really angry at jokes on the internets, so I decided to post hoping someone would read what I wrote. It doesn't even matter that I was dumb enough to post in a troll thread and show how mad said troll made me. (so in effect I fell for his trap)

Wargaming I'm not so sure about.
