Ohhhh, I got it now. I've always thought about characters interacting in squads. I guess I should have looked at Mephisto in the context of him being so beefy.

My bad guys, I totally agree with him not being an IC.

Question for OP. If this guy is a power player id hate to see what you would think of some really optimized lists.

He's not good at lists he is good at bending, ignoring and breaking nearly every rule in 40k. A game against him is an exercise in frustration with an average of 5 arguments a turn on rules (he'll argue even when proved wrong in an attempt to get a dice off) combine this with a need to watch his every move; add up his list mentally to make sure he's on; and his amazing dice karma. All this doesn't make him a power player by the traditional sense of the word but in his way he is.

I don't play with guys like that. In fact i tell them they are horrible to play with and I look for good sportsmanship to play with. who cares who wins it all part of the experiance.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly. I am Red And White.

I just played the guy that the OP was talking about.

I had - sternguard in razorback, 2x tacticals in razorbacks, 1x tactical in rhino, Ironcald in drop pod, Lysander, Vindicator and a land speeder.
He had - Dante and Sanguinary Guard with Sanguinary Priest, 1x tactical, mephiston and razorback, 2x furioso and vindicator

I got first turn, but he stole the initiative. In his first turn he wrecked one razorback and half the sternguard in it, immobilised and shocked the speeder and stunned the vindicator.

In my first turn my drop pod scattered too far so I popped smoke on my Ironclad. One razorback and the rhino moved 12 and popped smoke, and the other razorback moved 6 and managed to immobilise his Vindicator; my vindicator moved 12 and popped smoke, the sternguard managed to get a single weapon destroyed on one of his dreads and a shaken result. The speeder was out of range.

His next turn, all of his reserves turned up. Dante and guard destroyed the Ironclad in the shooting phase, Mephiston detroyed my Vindicator (rolled just one six to hit, then wrecked it), his razorback destoryed my speeder and he killed all but two sternguard.

I gave up before starting my second turn as I wasn't in the mood to watch what little I had left fail to kill anything and slowly get killed.

This guy gets such good dice rolls, it's unreal. He also makes every game feel like a chore

In a world gone mad, who is left to fight for truth, justice and all that gets you smashed for under a fiver....
