Any thoughts on what I could use as the "multilaser"? I bought 1:43 scale .50 cal's but they are a bit under sized and is there a better weapon that should be mounted? If so please also make sure its availible in scale that coud be used.

Dunno for the multilaser... especially where are you gonna mount it... stubber idea is good. What about a megafon mounted somewhere? Will there be a video?? That would be totally badass

Ok so for the second project I decided to go with the Medusa. There are 3 powerful tanks in this army that fall outside of normal S.W.A.T., but keep in mind S.W.A.T. isn't the Xeno Task Force. They do not have to shoot down giant aliens and enemy grav tanks. So a little imagination will be required for the 3 heavy tanks in the army. The rest should fit the bill a bit better.
The inspiration
http://www.tactical-life.com/online/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/weaponry2.gif
So to start with I used a drill to place a plastic rod into the rear of the chimera. This will provide a support for the hinge I want to make.
Place a larger plastic tube over it and we have our moving hinge.
I made the missile launcher from card and tube and drilled out a front firing plate for the tubes to slide in.
You can see at the rear that this was built over the larger tube that will serve as the hinge.
A few test fits and some sanding and here we are.
Once the magnets are installed the Medusa will be able to remain in the open postion or closed.
So there it is so far. I will be adding missie to the tubes once the project is done. I know they are a bit uneven but its the best I could do with my skill level.
I still have some work to do and a second one to make so keep checking in for updates.
Thoughts? Comments? (Future updates will be added to the end of the thread so I can get more opinion and thoughts as I move forward.)

Very nice
I have to say that I love that style of rocket launcher and it is good to see one integrated into the vehicle so well. You might want to add big exhausts to the rear end/top back section for the rocket exhaust to escape through.
If this were a regular themed IG army, I would advise adding some rivets and Imperial Eagles etc, but the plain look you have for your vehicles rules this out (not that it is bad, just inconsistent with what I would normally suggest ).

Haha, got a good laugh out of that. The tank should have some additional rules. If the tank blows up all units within X distance take a S10 Ap4 hit. X= 1D6 per remaining missile when it blew up.
I should say though, you are thinking of the Manticore not the Medusa. While this would be a great Manticore, due to the fact I used 4 missile tubes, I have reserved the manticore for a differnt project. Since the manticore drops d3 templates I thought it would serve better as a command base for calling in air stirkes. Thus sattelite dish and radar dishes will make up the bulk of my manticore.

Yes, they are comming once the tanks are done. Modern weaponary M16's, machine guns and the whole 9 yards I hope. They will test my skill a bit more then these tank as its much harder to model a guy then to file a tank.

I got an idea. If you plan on using autocannons you could make "sniper team" with one shooter (having some BIG semi automatic sniper rifle like Barret) and spotter ... yes 2 rounds per turn is a lot but it would look cool. Considering sniper rifles are pretty weak in warhammer this would give some justice.

I actually like this idea. I purchased a few sniper rifles when I picked up the other bits so I have some barret's with some decent scopes. S7 w/ two shots is hard to pull from a sniper, but hey its my conversion! I was trying to figure out how I could fit them in. It would also free up some .50's for the tank so I don't have to order more. Automatically Appended Next Post: What do the rest of you think?

I think it's time I subscribed to this thread!
Don't know much about weaponry etc. but the idea of using sniper teams as autocannons sounds cool to me,
if I were playing against your army I wouldn't see any reason why they couldn't have 2 shots. They're Heavy, not Assault so they have to stand still to be able to shoot, after all.
Hope this made some sense

A Barrett will punch armor just as well as an M2. Same caliber and everything. Barretts have a shorter barrel and hence lower muzzle velocity, but not by much. OTOH, a Barrett is more likely to be chambered in HEAT than an M2, especially if the primary mission is antimaterial. Automatically Appended Next Post: And Barretts are semiauto-they're designed to quickly punch out rounds on target.

I love the concept all around on this. You have some stellar conversions. The only real thing lacking on those tanks is you some edge highlights or something as they are just severly plain. Maybe even a little dmg who knows.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

I actually like the smoothness of the paint. I think leaving those vehicles without highlights might be better as it just fits the swat spirit IMO.
