The Rory - Amy - Doctor dynamic was too close to the Mikey - Rose - Doctor dynamic back in the 1st new series. Rory and Mikey are basically the same drippy character hanging around in the background getting cuckolded by the doctor. Was okay 1st time around - just tired of it now - glad it's over! Hope they get a more original character dynamic going in the Tardis (or what's left of it!) now...

I think the new series has been pretty good. The only episodes I didn't like were the Weeping Angels (completly ruined the concept of those), and the Dreamlord epidose, which in my opinion has one of the worst endings I have ever witnessed.
Essentially,
Matt Smith is so much better than David Tennant, it hasnt taken 3 series for this Doc to man up and use a weapon, unlike Tennant. I also love his bow-ties

Have to say, I'm not at all convinced Rory is properly dead.
Been catching up on iPlayer this week, and literally just finished watching the Dreamlord one. At the end, you see his reflection where the Doctor's should be, so I am wondering if him blowing up the Tardis wasn't the end of the dreams....could be good, could be Patrick Duffy waking up in the shower...

Nah, it was a Deus ex machina. They're not searching for it or anything like that, the Doctor just pulls it out at the end.

Van Gogh one last night wasn't bad (not bad for something written by Richard Curtis anyway).

I liked it though the end was a bit soppy for my taste.
Big props for the BBC putting a bit of kulcher into popular entertainment.
I hope people may be lead to investigate Van Gogh further. I've never been a fan but it did lead me to look him up and appreciate his work more.

Herr Spiggott:
Nope, definitely a Mcguffin. If you were the Doctor and you just had a psychotic episode, would you (a) Point out that you have a condition by which your dark side manifests and tries to kill you and everyone around you, (b) Note that as a Time Lord much of your power comes from being able to telepathically dominate the world around you and that you occasionally lose control of that power, or (c) Pull some fluff out of your pockets, and come up with a cock-and-bull story about it because your companions are credulous morons?
The answer is c, because otherwise your companions are going to see beyond the intergalactic wag act and notice that you're a genocidal madmen with a free hand to screw with time and space, and notice they're your version of Bubbles the chimp.
Remember the whole thing in the episode about "what doesn't ring true"?
