Finally got the pics uploaded.

BEHOLD! INTERACTIVE OBJECTIVE MARKERS!!!

In the front is an ammo stash, hard drive jumpers = gun clips; the long skinny things = land mines; and the roundish thingys in the back are grenades.

The brown square base = a communication station. The black box on the front of it has little "security access cards" that can be pulled out and taken over to the larger green based objective right next to it and the cards fit in to those silver and gold/brass slots to be scanned

In the back, the last and smaller green based, is a remote communication beacon. WITH GLORIOUS BUTTON PUSHING ACTION!!! No, it wont light up...No, it wont make any cool noises or sound effects....BUT YOU CAN PUSH THE BUTTON!!

OP here - I now have some more, erm, non-standard objective markers.

A friend gave me these girls:

So I've painted 'em up to use as objective markers. Commence speculation about why the sisters of Battle are so keen to capture slave girls...

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

I use a big pile of melta-bombs, a marine who's missing his legs, an arm, and is in "last stand mode" with a bolt pistol (in some games he's allowed to shoot). Otherwise i just use some random flags that come with marine kits (i hate heraldry).

I use some sort of a memorial:

and a flag on a flag pole

The best part is that the flag is easily attachable/detachable so I can have the flag run up or not depending on if I'm currently holding the objective.

Rescue, not capture. I use one of those as well in my SoB army. In non-objective games she joins the Inquisitor as a Mystic or Familiar. In day-to-day gaming I just use the GT objective markers they passed out a few years back. For my Lizardman IG, I built some just for that army:

I put the Macragge beacon and shield generators on bases.

I also built an objective with a TV (with satellite) and fridge, powered by a portable generator, but it looks kinda crappy.

Space Wolves.

Meanwhile, on my end, I use 40mm bases covered with golden Necron Scarabs. It's a race to see who can squish more bugs at the end of the game!
