I totally agree, they need a new codex. They also need some big critters or some beefy foot soldiers. I have about 3K and love them, but I only win 50% of the time. The Pass Scenario is the bane of the army. The next GW redo could be awesome, given what we have seen. I could see some mega flyers or some cool shooty units, the bowman are just a fly in most armies eyes. One thing they always do is draw a crowd. When I play them, people actually sit and watch, as if a movie is going. When I play my other armies, people say, cool and move on. Not the Bretts, they just capture the heroic Cavalry charge. Which brings me to, come on T3, give me a break. They also need a add to the combat res for charge. That would give them a chance. I don't know how many combats I have won, only to need one or two more points to break them.

I'm pretty sure that the army book overrules the BRB in most matters including this.

The fiction took a wild swing though, and made the peasants be abused, inbred, mutated half-human things that the Knights basically "kept" like cattle on their lands. It neither makes sense, nor is fun to play. Hell, the way the fiction describes them now, even as a Bretonnia player, I want to see them get wiped off the board. lol

I don't know much about Bretonnia's fluff other than that in the 8th edition rulebook but that seems kind of extreme.

I'd say overpowered in 7th, but this is 8th! Where my mighty frenzied, halberd toting Chaos Warriors get to hack their stupid Lances apart! Even if they charged.

I love the models, but I don't feel I could paint them in the manner they deserve. As for the rules, well...I've only just started playing so I don't know how they compare yet.

I love bretonians. They are fun to paint. I enjoy coming up with different color schemes and devices to paint them.

They're fun to play, i don't bring them out as often as the dark armies, but they're my light army of choice.
