The way Porkuslime (who you may know, hes in your neighborhood) and I did it was that he send me a model, and I painted it up. I did the same with Gitsplitta, so that is a posibility as well. Not to be "elitest" but Im not a fan of AoBR marines, I use them to try new paintjobs on. Id rather send the parts to make a "real" marine. I'd recomend people trade same for same, so people dont feel ripped off.
Oh absolutely I hear that! The AoBR's are rather static, though I was tossing my hat in the ring with what I have in this case! No way Id want for someone to part with a "real" (prolly more expensive) marine for a simple one! Same for same is perfectly fine with me!
I have however found a couple that ive stripped.... they're real marines, though ill need to clean up the parts a bit before I ship em off
And yes indeed I know Porkuslime! I play him from time to time--- Still gotta play his Orks!
Captain Solon wrote:I'm dissapointed. where are the converted models?
That could be another element of the same-for-same trading.
Id be willing to trade a converted model for a converted model. Could get some REALLY unique guys! (they sound rather like sergeants!)
I gotta get some money and pop out to my game store up here and pick up a box of Tac Marines! (mostly just for this xD)
Ok. So because im entirely dense and clueless on this process, how does it work exactly?
We paint up one of ours and send it out? Or do we swap the parts first, THEN paint it up, then send it back? Or, is it up to how the traders want to do it?
Sorry, I dont mean to be a complete fool (some parts are missing after all!)

I think that depends on what you work out with the other person. In some cases, you may want to send each other figures to paint, that way neither of you is out any $ save postage (i.e. you can make a fancy model if you want, or just send what you have). OTOH, if someone has a really unique building style (whalemusic for example), you might trade the build and paint job to really get the flavor of what they're doing... of course, they'll be expecting the same from you in return. You just need to sort it out by PM.

Pretty much up to the traders. As you can see there are people wanting to do different things, so some might want to trade some heavy conversons, some sgts, some AoBR, some standard, and so on. Basically just pick someone, PM them to figure out details, then let us know what your doing! WIPS and finished versons are cool to post pics of, as are your armor collection from this project!

As far as I can tell, Its essentially a marine exchange program.
You talk with a partner, and can do any number options. Of these are the simplest of "You send the marine parts to each other, paint them in your own scheme, then send them back." This leaves you each with a marine each in each other's scheme.
The alternative is shipping painted marines on a same-for-same trade.

WM.... I in . My chapter is the " Solar Lions" I have loads of figures so I'm intrested in making and painting the figure you want. I plan on using them for my "Company of the dead" SM army, so I'll let me know what " type" of figure you want.
Since I'm intending to play this Army at some point, I like to request any sent to me match the standard codex's ( what ever they be)
This is an excellent Idea

Heres a couple of WIP pics of the Sabre Legion Marine I am putting together for Whalemusic360, not sure if this is the place for WIPs but what the hell.
Here he is standing atop a half buried Giant Sabretooth skull, the left leg has been cut and reposed and has the usual Sabre Legion Purity Feathers and he has the Sabre Guard shoulder pads which signify his veteran status.
this is a fairly terrible shot of his medicine bag (kroot sprue) and his various sabreteeth and feather tokens (kroot prue again - love that sprue!)
hope you like the progress so far WM!

Finch (and others)- The purpose of this blog isnt to trade off your poorly painted rines for others, its to give people the oprotunity to aquire other marines the are prime examples of various chapters from various people. Im sure if BH put alot of time and effort into his project and I sent him one of my marines with poor paint he'd be quite upset.
BH - Looks AWSOME, really looking forward to him. And yes, this is the perfect place for WIPs, which is why I made a PM blog instead of General or Swap Shop.
Everyone - Would you guys want me to do a sort of "rep trader" thing with the master list as we get this going? Meaning when I get my Sniper back from Git, would you like to see a list of successful trades after his name? Something like:
Gitsplitta: Mantis Warriors - Whalemusic (x2), Solar_Lion, BLACKHAND

Ok, as your trades get done, PM me with the endorsments so we dont clutter up the thread too much (just my inbox). If you started before the thread those can count too (like mine and Porkuslime's dealing for instance) Automatically Appended Next Post: Two WIPs for the fun of it.
1st is for BLACKHAND. He and I (as you can see above) are trading Bolter marines. Hes got some Eteched brass icons on his side the pics dont show. Kinda hard to tell, but he also has the Storm Warden style ammo mag conversion, as he is going to be a Sternguard, and I gotta do something to keep up with BH. The pose is based off of one of my 1st, and favorite, DA marines (in my thread as soon as this is up)
2nd is Ice Angel's. We are both doing Assault Marines without jump packs, both with Power Weapons. I wanted the guy to look like he just bashed something in half. The backpack has a big ass hole in the back of it (got replacement from gw already), but with the purity seals there, you cant tell and it adds a bit of veteran status.
Question for both of you. I can completely leave the base off of the model if you want. That way you can really go nuts with your basing on them. Your call, lemme know.
