‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Thanks, though I haven't really started the whole weathering process. So far it's just been airbrushed using color modulation and black lined by hand. I'll be applying decals next and sealing them. After that the weather really starts. I'm going to try out using some oils which are completely new to me. Should be interesting...

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind once I try out the game. Have no idea how to actually play yet though I'm planning on dropping by a GW in the next month for a demo game.

Another update...

Finished off my vindicator and quite happy with how it came out:

Propped the model up on the book to keep it out of all the bits of plastic on my desk. Been hacking up a dread arm and making it right handed so I can make a dual blood fist furioso. Pics to follow soon.

Ha no worries. I looked at your CMON gallery and you've got some great stuff there. Really like your Raven Guard stuff.

Alright, quick update. Didn't do much tonight, spending some time to read that book the Vindicator was running over. Just a quick cut job for a Furioso dreadnought. Cut up two old dreads to make the two DCCW. In the picture I just finished filling in some uneven gaps with milliput and still have to file it out smooth tomorrow once it sets. Tried to mirror the arms as much as possible. Right arm was done using an assault cannon arm with lots of cut bits. Managed to line up the storm bolter directly under the ammo box so I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Dropped the other arm in Simple Green and will have it stripped by tomorrow. Plan is to use both arms on an Ironclad Dreadnought body since I prefer the look of the heavy front plating on that model; suites a close combat dread more than the standard one. Got a Venerable Dread body coming from ebay soon which I'll turn into a Librarian dread later.

Another quick update, started working on a Razorback and Mephiston. Managed to get some base coats on both models.

Also did some more work on the drop pod though the interior is still not done.

Got another two dreads, one regular with missile/las cannon and the other furioso built up and waiting to be primed. Will have pics up of those this weekend.

Finally, been ordering a ton of bitz off ebay, once they start arriving, I'll start building some assault troops. Got another 3 brand new boxes of death company coming in the mail as well as Dante...should be interesting.

Excellent. Im glad you to are dabbling more into the airbrush ways. The outcome is just amazing, especially if your doing mass amounts. Great job on the vehicles as well. Did you ever do scale modeling, if so it shows. The vehicles seem to have that extra touch to them that just makes them great alone or with an army.

Thanks! I actually haven't done any scale modeling before though I have seen a few tutorials for scale modeling which I've used as reference when doing mine. The shading I do with my airbrush is what scale modelers refer to as "colour modulation". I've got some pigments and oils as well though haven't actually tried them since those seem to be reserved more for display models where as these I might actually use for gaming at a later time.

Worked on the drop pod since my last update and finished the details and weathering on the outside. Need to start on the interior this weekend.

Also working on finishing off my Mephiston model. Will have that up shortly!

Finally finished off Mephiston. I didn't like GW's colour scheme which gave him blonde hair. I didn't think the "Lord of Death" look dark and gothic enough with blonde hair so I kept it black. With long blonde hair, I half expected him to pull out a tub of margarine and say "I can't believe it's not butter!"

Anyway, here's some shots taken from my lightbox...

and another of mephiston with his buddy lemartes...

Another quick update. Been sidetracked from painting recently by Mafia 2 but that's over with now. Did get some progress done on my shooty dread. Filled in some details and did some hand painted iconography. Still have a bit more to do before the weather starts:

Also started assembling some assault marines. These are kitbashed from death company/sanguinary guard/tac squad bitz.

Great looking stuff. But imho I think you should try to paint lemartes hair blond. I base this on the fluff that BA got blonde hair, and more importantly that if both his hai and the collar is blask there is just to much black. The hair disaperes in the black background and almost give him a bald aperance. This is ofcourse what I think but maybe think about it if your sure about he colour.

One of, if not the best Mephiston I've seen.
However, I don't picture him with black or blond hair, but extreme white/grey.

@Rose_Mountainz - Thanks and I do agree there isn't enough contrast between his hood and hair. I just couldn't stand to make the guy with long blonde hair. Personally I hate the way they portray the blood angels as blonde pretty boys. I figure with the age and battle SM see, they should look anything but, even if they are vain and narcissistic.

@Lucifer - Thanks. I'll think about modifying his hair a bit to give it a greyish tone.

Then maybe paint his hair grey/white? Grey is also a pretty fitting colour for a lord of death and it isn't blonde.
