in any event, even if that didn't work out (crappy 2D6 roll etc), they'd be right on top of you and keeping your units away from the machines, so if you happen to beat the dwarfs that moved fast the guns open back up on you...

Turn one they move up.
Strollaz march
Normal March
anvil charge- you get 3 inches+2D6
Havent used the anvil this edition forgot you would add the 2d6 the only problem is heavy combat dwarf lists would rather spend the points on 20hammerers or 3 thanes than have an anvil of doom, against shooty armies they will deploy well back so no chance of charging and most combat armies will be happy for you to charge them 1st turn as they go 1st anyway and stops them being hit by all your overpowered warmachines. Anvil is nice for miners and a full gunline to slow there advance, combat lists need dwarf lords and more combat blocks seems alot of points for an extra 6inch move then charge.

reliability is debatable as is usefulness. I was just saying that it could happen if the proper conditions were met.

Yeah true so you potentially can go 27inches which is pretty cool for dwarfs.

Dwarves are incredibly fighty. They are not necessarily the best CC army out there, but there are numerous armies that would love to magic/shoot them down before they are in your face.
Certain armies faced with a dwarf rush will have issues.

The problem is that dwarfs became better on multiple points.
-Warmachines more accurate
-Foot troops faster
-Fighting back in ranks means our Ini 2/3/4 isn't a huge detriment anymore
-All of our troops can have great weapons
-We can absolutely demolish a magic phase with the additional dice we get from Runelords/Runesmiths and Master Rune of Balance. Chances are we will have as many dispel dice as our opponents have power dice if not more. (Hypothetical: Opponent rolls a 6,3 = 9 PD. We get 6+1 for a runesmith = 7. Then we actually take one PD from the opponent and add it to our pool so now 8 dispel for us and 8 power for the opponent.) Also we have a base +2 to dispel rolls from our army's natural magic resistance.
