I would recommend macpac51 on ebay, he usually has a decent discount. He isn't always the cheapest option but he is very reliable.

Stay away from wizardgames I have bought from them twice and each time it was a fight to get my items (took several months).

I get pretty much all my GW from macpac51 on ebay. Sells at around 20% off plus free shipping. Thewarstore.com also sells at 20% off, but you cant order online (GW rules) so you have to phone or email them an order. Ditto for FRPGames, who are also pretty good to deal with.

Macpac51 is good, used them before.

Guys if you want to buy now use maelstrom games free shipping for over 10 punds of value purchases. Plus now I got a 15% discount code: EARLY-CHRISTMAS. Use it and the prices will be at least 2 pounds cheaper than wayland games.
That makes it even cheaper than dark sphere and wayland games...
However; normally i would buy from dark sphere as their prices are about 30 british cents lower.

BTW the code lasts till midnight 11th of october GMT time.

I'm going to get a whole load of stuff from them soon

Has anyone here tried Triple Helix Wargames? I've just discovered their website. They have great discounts but I'm not sure if they're reliable or not, because I'd never heard of them before. Can anyone offer a review?

Alas I went out of my way to try out a west coast source at 30% off and it hasn't gone so well so I think I'm going back to my East coast guy.

How is this not trolling? On a thread asking where to get cheap 40K stuff, you say you can get an awesome discount but won't say where? Thanks for this "contribution".

Ma55ter_fett wrote:I would recommend macpac51 on ebay, he usually has a decent discount.

Just a FYI - The last time I used macpac51, I ordered some Assault Marines that were boxed. When I opened the box, one of the sprues was crushed and ruined. His response was essentially "too bad for me". When ordering from Ebay, you're making a tradeoff - in return for a reduced price, you're also going to get reduced/no customer service if there is a problem. You can frequently get items on Amazon or the Warstore for the same discount, with the added bonus of being covered if there is an issue like I had. Note that GWS actually did replace the crushed sprue when I contacted them, but I wouldn't depend on, or expect that.

Not necessarily. You do have rights even on eBay. On eBay the sellers think they can get away with anything. I bought a batch of SM, about 20 really, they looked rough, the blurry picture was no help. Sold as seen he said. 30 SM, sold as seen.

Got them to find out of 30 SM I had only 3 then were complete! Every other one had arms, weapons and even heads missing. He had taken a lot of toruble to position the gak ones at the back with the more conplete ones being more strategically placed, and taken even more trouble to take a blurry photo.

I complained, he said "sold as seen" is the law, tough crap. So, knowing that "sold as seen" is not the law, I sent a picture to eBay. 3 days later a nice email to say I had been refunded and a nice email from the sller to say I was barred from his online store. Shame really because I was really looking forward to buying more junk.

It's pretty hard to find any good sales where I am, its a pretty limited group here so for me the best will be gaming conventions and private sales. Online auctions get you pretty good deals. Ebay is just a pain in the ass cause they have issues with shipping to me

Discounting is a weird thing. I mean, a FLGS with staff, rent and upkeep can either discount and hope to make more money through increased sales, or sell at sticker price and hope the same.

Gamers are notoriously fickle though, and will almost always buy from a cheaper source. I worked at a local game store, and guys would come in with stuff they bought at Walmart at cheaper prices...they whined when the owner stopped hosting tournaments ( Battletech or Mechwarrior, whatever the CCG was.)

So the FLGS, to be competitive, needs to sell at 20% off....

You'd think GW would get the hint and help out the FLGS's by lowering prices, but so many people still order/shop at GW, they end up making money......

<shakes head>

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

Get my minis from my LGS. Does is cost more? Yes it does although our gaming club gets a 10% discount.

For those of you that buy on-line for discounts I have a few questions;

1. Where do you game? If you game in your basement then it'd be OK to buy minis on-line.

2. If you game at your LGS do you pay to play? In most cases stores rent space by the square foot. Every inch of space dedicated to gaming is room that the store owner knows is loosing him money as that area can't be used to sell product. The only way he can make that up is by selling minis. He can't do that if you buy on-line and he doesn't charge.

3. Unless they offer free shipping even using ebay doesn't save a lot. 20% off a blister is no good when the shipping is added in. If you play at the Warstore or another on-line site then by all means buy from them

on Ebay it all depends on whether or not you buy it new and the condition it's in. I managed to get about 300 dollars worth of nids for less than a hundred once (after shipping), but a good quarter of it was a total mess (which I had no choice but to scrap for parts). We usually buy online and game at home, but there is a LGS here. However we only buy warhammer models elsewhere, we get our comics and cards from him.

Home, last time i played in any type of store (a GW) was nine years ago and even then that was an occasional once in a blue moon event. I used to support a local store about ten or so years back that gave 10% off, but it went under, plus it was over an hour away, just liked the fellas running it. My current closest store is a GW and its 40mins away, so yeah, home.

Maelstrom is free shipping as well, I used to buy from Wayland till I figured out that even with the slightly larger discount, Maelstrom was slightly cheaper on many items due to the free shipping. Plus at the time Maelstrom was the only one that gave back a % of your sales back as a credit to spend at the store.

Got a foot high stack of various sprues for 50p at a boot sale the other day. I don't know if boot sales are a UK only thing, if it isn't I imagine there are other names for them in other countries. Basically a place where people sell unwanted "junk," usually out the back of their cars. But yeh they are worth checking out.

+ 1 for Wayland Games.

I have used them several times and have never been able to beat them. I normally fill up my carts at multiple stores, add shipping, discounts... Wayland always wins out for me, although its usually close to Maelstorm. Which I find odd that they beat both the American stores I check (MiniatureMarket and Thewarstore).

Admittedly, wayland is a little slow, so be patient, but they had good service. They sent me the wrong package once and offered to sell it to me at cost or they'd pay for the postage back. I got some super cheap marines that day (luckily I was building a marine army).

"thank you... try and buy local... maybe they'll like you and cut you a break."

While its good to support local stores and I try to with my consumables should people in Australia walk away from a 50% savings buy ordering overseas?

Its not the local game store prices its GW Australias pricing policy, if I can get models in some cases cheaper that their staff can get them why not? This is not a recent occurance its always been cheaper to buy from overseas. Until GW Australia brings its pricings in line with the rest of the world I'll be buying my miniatures online, and hopefully GW Oz will notice a slump in sales and address the problem.

1. I havent gamed in a store in over a decade, its always been at someones house. When I did I supported the store.

2. I just found a LGS 3 days ago. Went to check them out and they were closed. I know they are in business because I called them te day I found them. Sign said hours 2-10pm...I was there at 430 looking at a dark store and locked door. Hard to support a business when you cant count on them being open. Ill be checking back, just to get a good look at them. From what I could see they had 3 or 4 tables, which is good. However it looked like they had one glass display cabinet (assuming full of finished models) and 1 rack of retail items, only about 6 feet long. That tells me they likely dont stock much...meaning Ill have to wait for anything I order, defeating one of the purposes of buying local.

3. Anyone shopping online should be smart enough to compare online price + shipping to local price + tax. For example...take a $35 GW box set...With just a little looking I can save $5-7 online over local, even factoring in shipping and tax.

Another problem with many LGS...small stock...many times they have to order the item you want. Now you are still waiting several days for your item and you are paying more money.

Bottom line...many people would like to support a LGS, but its something you have to want to do, as many times it just doesnt make good financial sense.
