This happened yesterday, I had 6 trolls and an orc big boss fighting a block of elite dark elf something or others (they rerolled their to hits every turn) and the got hit by a hero on a manticore. Total of 7 wounds on them and I roll 1 regen save, then they proceed to get run down. It was a sad day.

In a game against VC, i charges a hydra into a block of graveguard. The hydra destroyed the unit down to the hero. The hero refuses to die for the next two turns and ends up killing the hydra. My shades kill the hero the next turn with one volley of fire. A weird fail.

A large allied battle some time ago:
I skitterleaped with my grey seer behind a stegadon to cast Cracks Call on it, failed the cast with 5 dices and then got shot up by the lizardmen players High Elf ally...damm longbows had longer range than I thought...
Oh well...atleast I killed 14 Dwarves with a poisoned wind mortar over two turns that game.

You were up against Black Guard, which is just about as hard a unit as the DE get. Two S4 attacks and Warrior Elite (reroll hits every turn) is fairly nasty, especially against MI. Be glad they didn't have the Flaming Banner.

The Bloodthirster + 20 Bloodletters charge 3 Trolls + Throgg. Over the course of 6 rounds of combat, I eventually kill 1 Troll + Throgg (who was in a challenge with Mr. Thirster for 5 of those rounds), at the cost of everything I brought along.

Throgg made his first 9 regen saves, and a total of 15/18 such saves. I began to regret not having the flaming axe....

Owning a sizable army of both, I'd say Brets are more fun. Nothing looks better than a field of colourful knights led by a hero, although I just have a thing for Knights in general (Contemplating starting an Empire Knightly Order army for that sole reason).

Was that against Joel's Throgg army? Love that army, great job on it. His Throgg and my Hydra have had some epic showdowns...

Yup, it's a beautiful army. But that was the only thing that went well for him that game - his giant unit of 10 Trolls failed their rerollable stupidity on turn 1, and never made it into the game after that.

Yeah, he could fill this thread with fail moment stupidity tests alone. I didn't know he was running blocks that big, my elves might have to rethink their strategy against it.

Played a game against Skaven with my HE the other day using lore of heavens (first fail right there) and on turn one got a IF high casting cost commet spell (whos name evades me right now) off. Each turn after that a would come up for if the great gift from the sky would show up, so finaly in my own stupidity my nobel challenged a lone warplock engineer around 11" from the commet landing zone. Roll to see if it comes in , roll for range , and at S10 it proceeded to end my nobel and the engineer walked away unharmed.

Charged 5 elyrian reavers with my single remaining chaos knight of khorne, survive their attacks, take 2 out then die to a horse :x

Don't end your lvl 4's movement right behind a unit of marching blackguard. At least I was trying to snipe his lvl 4 lore of life slann - was using death magic at the time (failed to wound the stupid toad as well).

Yeah... those ancient toads are amazingly awesome.

I've played 3 or 4 games, bought the Warp Energy Condenser every time. It has never gained me an extra magic die, and only one single warp lightning spell has ever benefited from the +2 bolts ; the rest of the time I've rolled up 1 bolt and fried my stupid engineer.

Yeah but because he has the generator your opponent is going to use 2-3 dice to dispell that warp lightning almost every single time.

Oh man, how did I not post this one up already?

In my first game with a DP leading my WoC (check it out, it's over in the batrep section in that big WoT blog), the prince used third eye to nab some heavens spells and summoned a comet down over where some enemy warriors and marauders were. The comet didn't come down next turn and he moved his units away from it.

Three turns later I land my DP next to a stack of 4 dice and prepare for some magicking and flanking action. My opponent and our onlookers are looking at me funny ... and I realize that I just parked my 400 point DP next to his own comet marker. The comet comes down and smashes the prince into atoms, and I commence feeling very stupid.

I went on to win that game, but definitely by 400 points less than I would have

This one isn't mine, but my opponent last night killed half of his high elves with 2 miscasts. He wound up killing more of his own army in one magic phase than I did in the whole game.

My poor hydra take lots of abuse; in my last game it tried to chase a fleeing unit through difficult terrain and rolled a one. it tripped on a rock and fell, breaking all five of its necks.

I thought it was "take a wound with no armor" as opposed to "death to the model"... maybe I am thinking even more 40k.

You could be right, making that a truely epic fail on my part. eh, can only blame myself i suppose, i did believe my friend when he insisted that it was the whole model, rather than actually looking up the rule.

MY really only fail moment with 8th was using the blue scribes and decided to roll on either death or shadow, and got the spell that allowed him to make one friendly unit cause fear..... BEst spell ever for a DOC army.../sarcasm mode off.

HE vs. WoC

Last turn of the game, I need to win 1 combat with my 2 mages and 20 Swordmasters against 5 Khorne Warriors in order to win the game. His Hellcannon misfires and rolls a 3.

2 Dimensional Cascades later, the unit champions were the only survivors.

Guess who won the combat, and the game?

Ogre Gutbunker. 16 Bulls, Full Command, Tyrant and Slaughtermaster.

Charged in the flank by a unit of Witch Elves, with Okkams Mindrazor.....

Bits of Ogre everywhere.

Hellcannons sure are fun...my friend decided to try his out for the first time since he bought it(years ago), against my poor skavens.
First turn it eats two Chaos Dwarves, he decides to stay back to get an extra turn of shooting without risking hitting his own troops.
Second turns it destroys itself, 5 marauder horsemen and 4 or so Marauders.
Kinda big loss in a 1000 points game.
He still managed to get a draw though...

i witnessed a really funny moment last week.

2 Newbs playing. 1 with Empire, 1 with Lizardmen.


2nd turn, Slann casts Searing Doom on a unit of 7 kinights with the General inside.

he rolls irrisistable force, kills all 7 knights and wounds the General.


Slann DOESN"T have cupped hands OR Soul of Stone.


Miscast roll is a 4.


Slann goes Nuclear, taking the entire temple guard unit, except for the Champion, with him into oblivion.


Amazingly, the Champion sticks around the rest of the game and is the last Lizard unit left at the end of the game.

Over the holidays, I had a magic phase with my dark elves, with 12 power dice (and lore of darkness). I'm thinking I'm going to get all 6 spells off...

I burn through 10 dice, my opponent has nothing left. I throw 2 dice at power of darkness (planning on using the gained dice for black horror). I roll "6" "6". I gain 4 power dice, and the miscast drains D6 dice away; draining all the darkness dice. Having not used them to cast spells, I take 4 S4 hits, killing my own level 4 in spectacular fashion. She has now been replaced by a pair of level 2's.

I hate beeing that guy that tells of others misfortune, but the planets must have aligened for this one.
Round one: His Damsel miscast a minor spell, and blows up 5 Grailknights.
Round two: Two units of Questingknights fail their charge, and both his Trebuchets fall apart.
Round three: I charge him and he throws in the towel.
