I didn't mean to sound like I was questioning taste, just the actual subject. The HPA isn't a giant rat (though I still want to make one from the Caller Necromunda model!), it's a giant worm with ... grafts.

Definitely agree on the can't please everyone angle. Mainly, I'm happy to finally have an actual designated base size!

Wich should have been in the army book fro the start.
But that is a tale for a whole other thread, which you should note i'm too lazy to make

Enh, not much use for a thread really. I think most people would agree that part of any unit description should be the size base it's deployed on, excepting war machines. (Although IMHO, they should be based also!)

Even though they provided a pic in the book (which the model doesn't really look like to be fair), I think this is one of those monsters where everyone created their own version in their imaginations. Suffice to say, some people will be disappointed. It works for me though.

I'm happy with it, it's certainly better than anything I could hope to construct at the moment, although I may or may not add some greenstuff for practice.

I'll be getting one for certain though, will go nicely with my Rat Ogres, Skwell and Giant Rats.

It really works well with the description given and should rightfully take pride of place in anyone's skaven army.

It's ok, I guess. What I'm really digging is the Doom-flayer and Ikit Klaw.

I thought I read somewhere that GW were not planning to ever release a model for this, and just see what twisted gak people could come up with. I guess I was wrong.

For me, everything excluding the large hand thing seems to flow into place. It is an interesting model nonetheless, too bad I don't play fantasy

While we're on the topic of minis found in the background, did anyone happen to notice in the "Incoming High Elves" thing there was some odd fat Orc thing on a chariot? Perhaps a newer version of that Grom the Paunch character?

it looks stupid tbh, I don't really like it, too worm-esque, reminds me of something nurgle...would suit a nurgle demon...mind you the hell pit things never have a set look to them.

Surely it looks similar to the artwork, though? If you don't like the artwork, I could understand not liking this... and to be honest skaven spawning things are not really my taste, but I think it's really, really well done.

All the new models are up on GW's advance order page. I have to say the new Warp Lightning Cannon model (paired with the Plague Claw Catapult a la the Screaming Bell / Plague Furnace box) looks absolutely amazing, and the new Ikit Claw model is just fantastic.

Sadly the Tretch model is pretty terrible :(

Uh, Tretch is kind of disappointing. I'm not really loving the doomflayer either, but I didn't like the concept art, so that's not surprising.

Ikit Claw, though... wow. Like him a lot. The catapult cannon is pretty clever, and though I think either would have looked better in a kit that wasn't trying to both, this is a lot better than I expected from a shared set.

Tbh, I thought the doomflayer would look more like the dwarf deathroller from Bloodbowl.

Ah well, you cant please everyone I guess.

The doomflayer does look a bit too... calm. The dwarf deathroller is awesome, but super-pricey :-/

A ping-pong ball or large marble with a bunch of spikes and a skaven flying off the back does pretty well, though

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

the HPA is definitly scary looking and it certaintly looks like it's been mutated horrendously.

it also would make a nice starting point to Greenstuff things. just to make different ones look unique.

it definitly is Converter friendly.

I think it looks good.

However I think my opinion is a little skewed, mostly due to the fact that since there hasnt been a model for so long, there are some absolutely amazing scratch builds of the HPA out there.

Does look very nice seeing all the angles. Damn some of the stuff they can do now via that new tech is mind boggling, In a good way.

I really love this thing, it shows perfectly the mutated and warped nature of the Skaven in a perfectly ugly and deadly looking monster

I was speaking with Aurelia earlier and she raised an interesting point.

With a bit of conversion work, one of these fella's could make a really good stand in for a Chaos Giant. If you wanted something more akin to a giant spawn.

Heck I liked the idea so much, I almost ordered a second one so she could have a go.

She told me not too though *boo* wants to look at her giant in her own time.
