Concerning "up for grabs" , Soda Pop just released "Codifier Togan", let's call them "non-combatants"
https://store.sodapopminiatures.com/product_info.php?products_id=62 (17.95$)
Soda Pop wrote:Few of the ancient Imbach race choose to follow the path of the Aethyric Doctrine, finding aethyric patterns to be too fickle to rely on. Togan on the other hand revels in the chaos inherent in the energy that binds the universe together. Cursed with insatiable curiosity and gifted with his races’ naturally long life span, there are few Codifiers in existence who can match his mastery of the Doctrines. Unfortunately, Togan’s curiosity also leads him to become the source of an uncommon amount of mischief. He is banned from as many planets, stations, and ships as any corsair. Many husbands and fathers would like nothing more than to see Togan clasped in irons (or worse) due to his scandalous behavior. Cecilia, his personal Doctrine scribe, follows in his wake desperately trying to make amends and keep the catastrophes contained to disasters.
Codifier Togan and Cecilia are two multi-part pewter miniatures provided with a single 50mm premium base. Models are unpainted and require assembly.

In some ways I have to laugh at the range, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and if people like the models enough to buy them, then more power to both parties, the sellers and the buyers.
For me perosnally, these miniatures don't fulfill any of my miniature needs, so I'll pass on the range.

I don't really care for Soda Pop's minis, but I don't have a problem. They know what they are, and they don't pretend to be something else. I can respect that a lot more than I can respect supposedly serious battle-weary warrior women in chainmail bikinis.
As for the problem with the OP mini's face, it's that they gave her puffy cheeks. Anime girls don't have puffy cheeks unless it's for comic effect (or making a batsu gesture for some reason). Most of the time anime girl faces are just rounded pentagons. Like if you took Cobra Commander's mask plate and tacked on a tiny wee nose from the pixies.

I've always been underwhelmed by Sodas sculpts. The concept art usually catches my fancy, but the seening the model and it's planes and details lets me down - I like the results on the dungeon explorers more - even the paint job done on the display leaves me unispired to buy the model.
I think that if SP had the same quality as scribors finished models and paintjobs they would be far more popular :(

I wouldn't say Soda Pop is lacking in popularity, and certainly not in their paint job quality. Obviously certain models are hit and miss and typically in the facial area (Squall's reminds me of a gorilla for some reason), but not every face is like that.

Its all about context IMO.
Wet nurse context was? Giant walking penis full of tits rapes women?
Sodapop context is? Anime typical humour on anime styled miniature?
To me the latest makes sense and its funny and the first is just bad choice of a theme... and a tabu on my painting table I dont need that kind of theme on my hobby.
I think both are completly diferent things.
I also dont know what butter face is and to be honest Im not curious to know

Another great concept art, and another great set of mini's. Being a Animie fan I love Sodapop's range and another model I'll buy for sure. If you look at Animie faceds in general, they are quite flatly drawn. The skill is in the painting of it to make it more 3D. I just wish they'd release the concept art as A4 / A3 prints as I think it would make a great edition on the wall of my 'toy room'.
As for 'butterface', suppose the definition is different depending where you are from. For me it suggests an innocent look, "Butter wouldn't melt".
I've also just got back from a week in Hong Kong with my Wife. One of the few places in the world a grown man can use the subway (or MTR as its known there) carrying 2 large open bags of 4 Masterpiece Transformers, with a Wife carrying 1 bag of G1 Transformers Encore and some suggestive girly Animie models, and get looked at from people in complete understanding or jealousy, rather than being frowned at for being either 'too old' or a pervert!
I love Aisia!

Yes, my use of a common colloquialism to describe a line of miniatures that historically has hit-or-miss female facial sculpts while the rest of the miniature is often just fine clearly means that we are a bunch of knuckle-dragging misogynists. That being said, I meant no offense toward sculpted women in general and have removed it from my initial post early in this thread.
On that note, I truly hope nobody should ever use the phrase "man-face" to describe GW's recent line of Dark Eldar females as this would be yet another deeply offensive term toward sculpted women in general.

Heh. Nice response, Kirb... made sense to remove the term, anyway, but I like the comeback
As to the second model posted at the top of this page (not the OP)- at first, I thought it was too much... but you guys are right that in the context of anime this seems to be a common joke/theme/situation/etc.
Still not something I'd ever consider buying, really, but I don't see a problem with them making it.
That said- bring on the Dungeon Explorer models! Those actually have captured my interest, and even my wife's . So I am still hopeful that there will be models tempting enough to get me to make some purchases from this company.

Why must individuals constantly play the "P.C" card.....and I don't mean Personal Computer either.
What's wrong with the term "Butterface"....we all know that whats ugly to one guy is amazingly beautiful to another, variety makes the world go round, and it means ever guy isn't chasing the same skirt.....oopss, another non P.C term.
