Yes, clearly I am. Apologies. Been too long since I fielded the unit. As long as we're mentioning 3rd ed, the 3rd ed Shuriken Catapults were also Rapid Fire 12".

Ummm... you may want to double-check that. I don't have my 3rd edition codex on me at the moment, but I'm 99% sure it was Assault 2. And, after some random googling, I can across a forum talking about them as Assault 2 in 2002, 4 years before the 4th ed codex.

I think your gaming group has been cheating you. Have they told you all your assault weapons were rapid fire?

Hah. No, just a braincramp day. Now that I think about it, I remember using Defenders in a point-defense capacity in 3rd ed to shoot & assault certain units which didn't have great armor saves.

Maybe Rapid Fire catapults were 2nd edition?

Yeah, Marines with Bolters were the only ones who had Rapid Fire in 2nd edition.

You mean using the dice with 1, 2, 3 or jam? fun fun fun. IIRC, a Heavy Bolter used three sustained fire dice and twin linked meant double the number of shots, so it was possible for a TL heavy bolter to fire 18 shots!!

Yep, back then you did rapid-fire a weapon, as it was a skill, not a weapon type.
